This is my second DROID2. The call voice quality is so bad that I don’t think I can keep the phone and I won’t get another one. Listeners keep complaining about muffled sound. They have to keep saying: “WHAT?”,…. “What did you say?” ….“HUH?” ….“Talk into the phone please!”,…. “You sound like your far away from it”,……. “Are you on your earpiece?”, …….“Hang up and call me back”.
Last but not least: “Call me from another phone, yours sucks!!!!”
My daughter has a Droid also and I know what people are hearing when I call them, because I when I talk to her it’s so bad I hang up because I’m tired of saying; “what did you say?”
I have tried ALL the suggestions that are on the forums.
Verizon won’t admit there is a problem! The salesperson told me, “Well that’s a DROID.”

People are telling me the same thing. I had crystal clear exchanges on my old Banter. HELP! Anyone?

Try doing a factory reset and see if the problem persists. I was at the Verizon store yesterday and spent 3 hours on Verizon's bill checking out all Verizon's phone, and the Droid 2 had excellent voice sound. My wife was impressed everything I called her. Ironically the best voice sound I heard was from a cheap $19 phone lol.

No complaints about voice from anyone I've talked to. I've used the handset, the speaker phone, and of course my BT headset.
Low talker. Stay away from the puffy shirt.

I've noticed really bad quality going from Verizon to AT&T users... I was sorta wondering if something is getting over-compressed or some other CDMA --> GSM strangeness. I've never heard any complaints about people understanding me (maybe they have better hearing and/or lower expectations!), but I'm always having a hard time talking to AT&T folks.
The audio quality when talking to other Verizon customers is noticeably better... so with all the AT&T bandwidth problems, maybe they're compressing the voice data more so a) they can get more bandwidth in their wireless network and b) consume less peer/upstream bandwidth where they interface to other carriers.
We're not alone in noticing this, right?
