My battery goes dead in about 8-9 hrs, with very little use of the phone. What can be done?

I picked up Android Assistant, and it seems to help. I have it set to turn lots of stuff off from time to time. I also run my brightness at 25%, and do not allow much for updates and such. I keep all of that to a minimum, and my battery life is much improved from the first few weeks I had the phone.
But as was said, it's poor. A few rounds with a simple video game, and the battery gets it's butt kicked.

I had a fellow Android Central member recommend HTC Express website to me. I bought two 1800mah batteries for
34.98 and they are working fine for me. I also got a charger dock for them. They are the same size so I didn't need to get a door cover to fit it. I am pleased with them. Droid devices are going to use more battery juice than a BB. I have the brightness dimmed and I do make sure when I am done with applications to close out of them. That BB habit is hard to break! I can get two days but I still charge nightly because it is my only device. I don't have a home phone.
I had tried the extended that required the cover door and I hated the bulk.

see whats using your battery, settings>phone>battery use
set widgets to updates no more then once per hour
if your running weatherbug, a reboot at times will fix it as it gets stuck
what are you doing in that 8-9 hours that uses battery?
