All,
When I turned on my phone this morning I decided to check my battery usage and what a surprise. But first let me say that in all the time my Charge had Froyo 2.2.1 and also using GB 2.3.6 my battery usage ALWAYS had "Display" as the biggest user of the battery. See attached Screen Shot
This morning the APP GPS Status was the biggest user of the battery even more than Display. I did check to see if GPS Status was running and it was NOT running. I have not even used GPS Status for several days.
What's up, does anyone know??? I hope this APP is not a stealth off spring of CarrierIQ!

PS, After using the phone I re-checked battery usage about 3 hours later and Display was again the biggest user at 51% and now GPS Status is in second place at 19%.

Richs10 and OTHERS,
I think I figured it out and it appears that GPS & Toolbox is NOT constantly running and is no longer using battery power. It seems that once you use an APP it appears in the "Battery USE" display. Look at settings>about phone>battery use if you want to see your Battery Use display. Therefore, when you use an APP and it used a lot of battery juice it goes to the top of the Battery Usage list even though it is NO LONGER running.
It stays there until some other APP tops it as the biggest user or battery power or the Battery Use list is reset..
That said, go to the following URL because I found a way to reset my Battery Use display and GPS & Tool Box disappeared from my Battery Use list because it was no longer running.

Jerry:
I loaded GPS Status & Toolbox at your suggestion in another post to see if it would speed up the GPS lock. I used it to recalibrate the GPS and to clear and reload the GPS info. I couldn't really tell whether it was helping or not, but it was a cool app and I kept it on the phone. The next day, I noticed it was one of the top battery consumers (as you have noted also) so I unistalled it. Mine said wasn't running either, but it sure appeared to be eating up the battery, even when it was shut down.
I liked the app and would love to hear it is not a battery hog, but until that happens, I dump any suspect app since the battery life on this phone is so bad to begin with.
