Best way to take OTA update?

just delayed JB update. I thinks its been downloaded. I was just wondering if there are any precautions smart people take just before doing these updates. I guess backing up things would be wise but what about doing a system cache clear or is there any safer 'boot mode' to do the install? Thanks

My suggestion would be to back up anything critical to be on the safe side, do a system cache clear, ensure the battery is fully charged and that the phone is plugged into a wall outlet, and then do the update.  Some people do a factory reset before an update; I do one after if I have any issues (so far, I haven't, with either the ICS update nor JB).  Good luck.

You can do a System Cache or a  F.R. before or After you Update if you Decide to F.R. just do the Regular Factory Reset there is no need to Clear your internal or External Storage). One thing to Note.!  Your Apps will be updated as soon as the OTA Update Finishes One thing i always Suggest is to Make sure you have a Fully charged battery and since this is a Fairly big Update if you have it Use your Wi-Fi  or be Close to Verizon Tower in the Area of it.. And Make sure that the every thing is fully done on your phone before you use it. When my Razr Maxx Finished it's Update and was on for a Bit i shut it off for about 10 min than restarted it. Everything works OK on it..   Good Luck b33

thanks for the advice, I think its an app and data backup, clear cache, and run it. Full reset only if any screw ups afterwards. Thx for advice.
