I updated my phone to the latest version given out which is Jelly Bean. Ever since, i am no longer able to get Verizon service signal (which means no phone calls, texts, or mobile internet) with the com.android.phone app constantly stopping. Any fixes for this?

Ive found this https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/797330 that seems to point to a factory reset for a fix.

I also got the update pushed on 4/20/13 and now the phone drains the battery in a couple of hours--on standby! I thought it might be the battery so I switched to another and its doing the same thing.

That could be the updated OS optimizing the phone. Give it another few days and if it's still an issue, try a system cache clear (instructions are in the link in the post above yours) and see if that helps.
