This morning my Bionic died without warning.
I tried turning it on....no responses
I plugged it into the charger - no responses
I finally had to unplug/plug in the battery (was at 40%) and now it's working fine. Any idea's as to the cause?

But I keep reading about this occupancy, so there is something going on, no doubt.
I did a factory reset yesterday on mine (not had it a week yet) and boy, it really smoothed out in several areas. But this morning, when I unplugged the charger, it turned off and I had to reboot. Been fine ever since...

I've had the same thing happen to me, I was talking to my friend and went to show her an email on my phone and NOTHING... had to do a battery pull and my battery was at about 50%. I read somewhere on another forum that it could be the "In Pocket Detection" your display settings. I don't know if that will work or not but I unchecked it and so far today it's been fine...

I tried the Pocket Detection at first, but it didn't seem to actually turn the phone off and there's enough going in there anyway, so I unchecked it, too.... (yeah, it's late...) and lock the screen manually.

Ditto for me this morning. My Bionic is set to sleep over night. It began an endless startup this morning. Pulled the battery and startup was fine.
I'm posting this just to add to the complaint. I just bought mine and it scared the hell out of me.

Had the same issue on a 4 day old phone... asked for a new phone and told by verizon " we can log an issue but will not replace" Guess they want me to wait till after 14 days so Verizon doesn't have to replace it with a new one....

Hello happy forum members,
Thank you for sharing your concerns with your new Motorola Droid Bionic. I am also a proud owner of the Droid Bionic. I absolutely love the speed and response time on this device. Although I haven't had the issue that's being discussed, I noticed that most of you have shared the same experience. I would love to assist by gathering some more information about the product.
Clingingvenus, may I ask are you still within your 14-day return period? If so, I can replace your Droid Bionic with a brand new device for you. Simply, send me a private message with your full name, mobile number, and contact number so I can process the exchange for you. If this issue is resolved and you prefer to keep your original phone then please respond advising so. Also, I'm interested in everyone's feedback on the Droid Bionic and it's software opportunities. Feel free to send me a private message with any opportunities that you may have encountered so I can include it in a product issue report.
Thank you...

Me Too. 4 times & counting. Also poor signal strength. What is the purpose of wi-fi if the phone won't use it to connect with the browser???????? I am past 14 days & wish I had kept my Eris connected!

Got my Bionic 9/12. Have had to reboot 3 or 4 times so far. Woke up Sun am to find the phone locked on the reboot screen. Tried battery pull, charging, sim card pull. Nothing would revive it. Took it to the VZ store and still no luck. Getting a replacement this week. Hopefully a one time thing.

Add me to the list...
Phone randomly locks up and has to be reset.
"Taking the Battery out" is about as Horrible a "solution" as Microsofts Servers requiring "rebooting"...
I thought Google was trying to separate themselves from the Microsoft's and Apple's of the world!
How about a FIX instead of a clumsy "solution" such as take the battery out and put back in.
Seriously.
If I need to get a new phone and hope that one works, I guess I will. Hard to believe so many brand new phones would need to be returned because they don't have a fix.
Tsk Tsk!!

I too experienced this black out for the first time earlier this morning. My Bionic was on the desk under a lamp. I had finished charging it about 15 minutes before it decided to black out. Had to pull the battery and restart.
I also experienced a phone restart the other day while using the Navigation app. All of a sudden I saw the Droid splashscreen and the phone was rebooting itself. The only casualty was Good For Enterprise. That crappy piece of software would no longer connect to the server. Had to ask my IT department for another PIN and reinstalled Good.
Other than these two instances, the phone has been quite reliable. I am the third member of our family to pick up a Bionic. We all lve the phone.

I have had mine 2 weeks and this happened first time yesterday in homedepot. I pulled it out of my pocket and locked up black screen. One thing I have noticed is sometimes I can see my screen is still on while in my pocket with pocket detection checked. Any who I pulled battery and unchecked it. I feel that might be an issue as others think.
