All of the birth dates and anniversary dates I had listed in my contacts are now showing as weird numbers like -266902200514 and 1180557051788. I think these may be some kind of julian date or something. Odd part is I go in to edit them in the persn's contact and birth date and anniversary date fields don't even show up as being there. Are these fields something from Yahoo contacts I am synced with or something maybe? Any reason they would be listed incorrectly like this?
If I start a new contact I don't even see birthdate and anniversay date listed as editable fields.
One other thing, when I add a new contact the phone now asks me where I want to store the contact and gives me three options, Google, Backup assistant and Yahoo! mail. Is it basically asking me where to store it then it assumes I will sync to the others so it will end up in all three or how does this work? I have tried choosing all three and I get the same fields shown to me no matter which I choose.

This feature appears to have been removed from the contact app when 2.3.3 GB update b8t 9f y08 would like to edit this option you can still go to gMail on web and make changes and it will sync to device, I know it seems rather wild that you have to do it this way but at the moment this is the only solution reported..

Sometimes users has set the contact as sync for phone when added or if its a facebook contact it sometimes cause this, there is a number od things that may cause this, are you using Backup Assistant also because it has cause issues like this from time to time..
If you are using BA I would check and see if it is backup correctly and then export contacts from it and import to gMail.

I am using backup Assistant as well and it appears to be backing up everything to it correctly. Just not to GMail. Botyh are listed ion the account section and both are listed to automatically sync and I've done a manual sync to both and it says it does so for both.

I also had this problem and was using BackupAssistant and GMail. I deleted everything in BA and only use Gmail now and birthdays etc. show correctly, plus, there aren't two contacts for each person any longer... Had to edit everything from my pc tho, which is a pain sometimes...

There's one other way around to update your Dates as wildman said 1 is to go to Gmail.com an you can update them there But if
you have another Smartphone like i do i've got a Droid Incredible an it's not been updated to Gingerbred an still has the capability
of intering more contact Informatin like Birthdates then you can Transfer your Contacts to an from the the phones. But there is
one stipulation Both phones have to have the same " Gmail " Account so they can work together with each other.

Try this method...
1. Log into Verizon Backup Assistant
2. Click on Export to CSV
3. Save File as (or Rename to) Contacts (it should already be converted to CSV so including .csv is redundant)
4. Log into Gmail/Google Voice
5. Click on Contacts
6. More Actions (Above contacts list)
7. Click on Import
8. Browse for the Contacts (.csv) file
9. Click Import

the phone won't backup both, it sees it as duplication.
i use ba but any/everything i add to gmail ends up on the phone.
in my case, ba's a backup in case gmail & its recovery go south.

As for the messed up dates for birthdays and anniversaries, that seemed to be an issue with facebook not syncing correctly. I just had to uninstall then reinstall my FB account with the phone to correct this issue.
