CHILL OUT!

I'm starting to get frustrated with some people on here.
Talking about going to Wal-Mart, and picking up the phone, then refusing your shipment from Fed Ex.
GIVE ME A BREAK! Most of these phones if not ALL of these phones are being delivered when they tell you they are. But, since you can't be patient enough to wait, you decide you want to go to Wal-Mart, buy it, and refuse the shipment. Why? If waiting til whatever date they told you originally is to long, then why did you order it in the first place.
It's reasons like this that others are waiting on their phone. Some phones are just spending time in shipping just to be sent back, and sent out again.
RELAX, you'll get your phone, and Verizon is still the number one cell phone provider. Take a chill pill.
Off my soap box now, and I'm waiting for my phone with a ship date of 9/7, and haven't called customer service once! Why? because it's not 9/7 yet!

It has been like that since launch time. The only place to do pre-orders on the phone was Best Buy, and they only did it very briefly. I follow several web forums on Android, and there was quite a bit of chatter on a couple of them from some people who were making multiple orders by giving a pre-order at more than one Best Buy.
Then on the actual lauch day, some people were calling their orders in after it went live online They would then leave the pre-order from Best Buy. Some of them, even after ordering online, would then go into the store and purchase the phone.....only to refuse the package that they ordered online.
Some people have no sense as to what is right or wrong and are clearly driven by their selfish desires without having any concern for others.

Yeah, my point exactly. People are getting a little too spazzy over this, causing the delay for others, and problems for the company.

I so agree with you.
We have become such a "Me! Mine! Now!" society
I was in the store the other day and heard, nearby:
"Mom, I want!"
"Not now dear. I told you, you can have it for your birthday"
"I want now"
Not now dear. On your birthday"
"No! I want it now! Waaaaahhhhh!!!!!"
I don't know why. But, my mind drifted to the Droid X forums.
Same goes for 2.2. People were told late summer. Now, as we go into late summer (and are in late summer until Sept 21st) we have people saying, "It is late summer, so why is Verizon and/or Motorola not releasing it like they said? Why are we being lied to?"
We are told it will be released in September by Motorola and I can almost guarentee that on Sept 1st at 12:00, someone will ask: "Where is Froyo? Motorola said Sept. Why are they breaking their promise?"

Exactly!
{please keep your posts courteous}
It will arrive when it arrives{word filter avoidance}
Verizon is a corporation. You are just a person. Deal with it.
It's as if no one here has ever had a real job and can lob judgments about VZW employees' job performance like they have a valid say in the matter.

Seriously who cares? The only thing that bothers me is that they try to pass off all the problems as being VZW's fault.
As for ordering phones. Heck, I don't give a flying snake if they order 20 phones and refuse them all. It doesn't change your ship date at all. If you see a phone you ordered in stock at Walmart or at a yard sale, buy it if you so desire.
Refusing a package is neither dishonest or immoral. If VZW will not allow you to cancel your order this is your only recourse. If you open the package you can be subject to a $35 restocking fee, refusing the package means no chance at restocking fee. Sure VZW might lose a couple of dollars on the shipping, but in all honesty some of us pay in excess of $200 per month for our service, and the $3-10 is simply a drop in the bucket which is dumped into the ocean.

You don't get it though. Why make the order if you can't wait for it? Haha, that's what I'm trying to say.

Actually I am waiting to see all the complaints that going to hit this forum when Froyo 2.2 does get released, of course someone will find something wrong with update and then be posting things like " Issues after Froyo update, FIX IT NOW!!!!" It is so amazing how so many complain and demand for something and when something new gets released (Next Day) they are complaining why the new devices features wasn't included on theirs. I have heard complaints about "No Front Facing Camera". "No 4G". No 8MP Camera..... It is getting crazy how so many feel that everything should have this and that feature because they want it and you cant forget the "Verizon better get the iPhone or I canceling my contract"
If you prefer a feature or phone that bad, do what you have to do but trying to force a company to do something because you want it cant get no funnier.
My Droid X have been working well for me without any real issues other than Volume and I do not see a reason that the update needs to be pushed out any sooner than when it is ready. If it comes out with bugs it just will start the complaining all over again..

The leaked version has been reported to have volume issue resolved, so if nothing changes too major from the leaked rom it should be fixed, I understand it isn't official but I am hoping the information is correct.

an interesting post... considering none us know the real reasons why delays are happening with the Droid X.... incase those haven't noticed.... the Droid X's availability is based on regional inventory... follow some of the forums here and see... ordering a phone and picking up a phone in Walmart does not cause more backorder dates... it opens the opportunity to for another customer with a backorder date to get their phone too.... Droid X's that are refused go back to VZW and off to the next customer....

And how many days do you think that phone is out of the inventory while it was processed, shipped to, then shipped back and replaced into inventory? I would say a minimum of 3. So if someone wants to order a phone...and there are none in inventory...how can you tell me it has no effect. If the phone was never removed from inventory to be shipped out only to be refused, someone else could have recieved that phone.

To the OP. why does it annoy you what other people are doing to get their hands on a phone that obviously VZW can't deliver to a paying customer. I found it funny that this phone is available through other retail establishments yet VZW can't offer this without a preorder scam. If Motorola can provide these units to BB's and Walmarts then why not to the carrier ??? Probably cuz there is no profit their. I walked in to a BB Mobil on launch day and got my X without any preorder. My wife walked in to the same store last week and purchased her X also. In fact they receive wekkly shipments of X's as Walmarts do also. So why should one have to patiently wait for VZW to provide a supposedly back ordered phone that is readily available elsewhere. As far as people preordering the unit then having to refuse shipment is cuz they were able to purchase this phone somewhere is is perfectly morral and their right to do so. They only preordered in the first place cuz VZW told them that would be the quickest way to get this much anticipated phone and when they stumbled upon the phone somewhere else they bought it. Good for them !!!! You have the same right and freedom to do the same if you so choose.

Here's the deal:
Every business is different. BB, Wal-mart, and VZW are different businesses correct? We have no idea on how their infrastructure works. It sounds like you and your wife have been very lucky to stumble upon a phone being stocked in a store.
Who's to say that the BB that you got your phone from didn't have a shipping date like VZW is giving us? They possibly had the same type of situation we have, and the day that you received yours, you were lucky enough to show up on THEIR ship date.
From what I can tell, Verizon is following through with their promises, and people shouldn't be bad mouthing them because they aren't patient enough to wait until their original ship date.
Done.

Im saying I spend right at 300.00 a month for service with a 2 year contract that's $7200 even after 3 phones I think they have made enough profits.
Well...they are not making as much profit as you might think if they are paying people to process orders, ship the orders after paying for the shipping, paying the shipping to have the order returned; and finally paying to process the return. That is also a phone that could have went to someone that ordered one - BUT HAD TO WAIT BECAUSE SOME FOOL ORDERED MORE THAN ONE with full intention of only keeping one.
The $300 you pay every month for service is NOT profit for VZW. They have to pay for people to operate the system; and pay for the infrastructure. Do you actually think you are getting your cell signal from a magic fairy on mars?
