Calendar not loading

For no apparent reason, my Google calendar is not loading....nothing but a continuously spinning wheel inside the calendar widget. This is the third day that I've been dealing with this problem...kind of hoped it would miraculously fix itself! I've powered off and pulled the battery several times which hasn't solved the problem. Everything else works just fine and I hadn't changed any settings or downloaded any new apps which could have affected it. My Google calendar is working just fine on line too. Anybody have ideas as to what may be causing this? Thanks for the input.

Just an update. I broke down and did the reset of my phone and the calendar works fine now. Even with everything backed up with My Backup, it was still a pain getting the phone back to where I want it so hopefully I don't have to do this often! I am having trouble with some of my Gmail contacts not syncing back to my phone for some reason but everything is working ok besides that.

How about just remove the GMAIL account (from MY ACCOUNTS), reboot, and re-add the account? ( PS - this will also temporarily remove all of your Contacts, but they should all come back when you Add it back in). which Calendar APP are you using?

Sounded like a good idea Cody but when I tried to delete the Google account I got the message that the account is required by some applications and it can only be removed by resetting the phone to factory defaults. Guess I'll save that as a last resort. Which calendar APP? Using the one that came on the phone along with Google calendar. Thanks for your help.

Uh, too bad .. Just for grins, how about installing "Touch Calendar" ... the free version, just to test and see if it's the APP or the communications vehicle with GMAIL ...
Also, have you tried to see if you can CLEAR CACHE / DATA from Settings / Applications (for the specific Calandar APP)??`

I am wondering if your issue could be from the recent situation where Google server information got removed by accident and they are wotking on restoring missing data? Read about it from http://spinport.com/google-recovers-wiped-emails-from-tape/315177/ if you havent heard about this, CNN reported about this also...

Hey Wildman. Thanks for your thoughts. I heard about the Gmail problem and perhaps there is some sort of tie in there...The problem did start on Monday. The few emails I have on Gmail are still there, contacts are still syncing ok and the google calendar looks fine when I check it on line.
I tried Cody's suggestion with the Touch calendar. I downloaded it ok but everytime I open it, I get the "Sorry!" notice about how it has stopped unexpectedly!. Did a battery pull with the same results following. I'm thinking I must have an anti-calendar bug on this phone! LOL!!!

Try this - put the phone into SAFE MODE and see if the problem persists:
- Power off the phone.
- Press & HOLD thee Menu button ... continue to hold it
- Now power up the phone, holding the Menu button
The phone will eventually come up and say SAFE MODE in the lower left corner. None of the 3rd party APPS will be running. Now check your Calendar and see if ther problem persists..
This "might" rule out the possibility of a 3rd party App getting in the way. If your Calendar suddenly works in this mode, I would start uninstalling APPS that you may have recently installed (since the w/e ..)
Just a thought.
Oh, to get out of SAFE MODE, just power OFF/ON as usual.
If that doesn't work, not sure what to tell you ... might be time for a (gulp) RESET ???

Well, I finally found a few moments of peace so I was able to try restarting the phone in the Safe Mode. Even in the Safe Mode, both calendars are still inop so there must be no apps causing the problem. Grrrrr.......
