Camera Button just stopped working

Very strange ... has been flawless since September.  Starting today, when I push the Camera Button, it no longer vibrates and starts my camera APP.  After I manually select the Camera App from my App drawer, the button works fine to take the picture...  I've rebooted.  I've pulled the battery.

Any ideas??

I *FINALLY* figured out what was going on ...  It was in fact an APP I installed back on Dec. 12th that introduced this.  It is the "NO LOCK" APP  ...  I used the SYSTEM MONITOR APP to browse through all my active APPS. One by one I stopped various APPS and pushed the button after each STOP ...  Once I stopped "NO LOCK", the button started working as it should.

whew ... glad to have finally found it.

I've noticed that my camera button used to open the camera app as soon as I tapped the button.  I now have to hold the button down for a few seconds to open the app.

I press it a looong time - much more than "usual".  Anyway, this is very bazaar ....  I went thru the pain of uninstalling any and all APPS that I recently installed over the last week - including LPP which was a total pain.  1 by 1 uninstalling, rebooting, testing camera ...  It suddenly worked after an uninstall of 1 particular APP ... so I rebooted again, just to verify.  It failed to respond again to pressing the button .. Rebooted again, didn't install anything, tested - it worked this time ..  So honestly, I can't say any particular APP is causing this ... I reinstalled the APPS that I had uninstalled - and it is currently working  ..  So now am nearly convinced this intermittent bug was introduced with the latest OS update ...  ugh ...  It worked perfectly -- 100% of the time prior to this update.

Anyone else experiencing this ?

I've have the phone for over a month (yep, folks...past my 30 days.  I'm keeping the Droid X!)  It came with 2.2 (and I went through the latest update with no probs - knock wood), and I've always had to hold the camera button down for a few seconds.  Thought it was inherent to the phone.

I guess I haven't been making myself clear ...   I press & hold the button FOREVER and the Camera does not come on. It doesn't do the slight vibrate like it normally does.  It mysteriously started working after 1 of my many (manual) reboots yesterday. Then after having the phone turned off overnight, it no longer works once again today.  I *never* had this issue prior to this latest OS update !!

Usually software related, I have had simular situations and everytime it was because of a app I installed modifing the buttons settings.   I would check all apps installed recently for a setting for buttons.

Thanks for the suggestions Wildman ...  I actually did that .... I DE-INSTALLED everything that I had updated or downloaded since the OS update - which I got about 2 weeks ago as part of the SOAK program.   The problem persisted after all that.  The issue just seems to come and go after any number of reboots ...  After a reboot yesterday, it was working properly. Then just now, I booted up my phone (it was turned off overnight as usual), and the darn button won't launch the Camera APP again !  So I'll have to reboot it several times, and it will eventually start working again ...  This is very strange and the only thing i can put my finger on is the latest OS update ..  I guess if it annoys me THAT much, I *could* try a full factory reset ... but that is such a pain to do that I may just live with it.   Thanks.
