I have had this phone for 3-4 months. I always charge the battery 100% before using any new phone. My review setting is off. It doesn't matter if my battery is 100% charged or 75% or 40%, the same thing happens. I've done two factory resets. I've tried using the camera with nothing installed.. same issue.

I also have the issue where the GPS takes more than 20 minutes to locate since the last software update. For the 300 I paid for this phone, I'm pretty upset. I do not want a refurb, I want a phone that works - preferably my phone now.

I've read all 18 pages of this-- doesn't look like we are going to get a fix. Next time, I will wait longer before purchasing the "newest and greatest" phone. I'll wait a couple months and read these forums to see what's up.

Sad that Verizon doesnt give a crap either.   They couldnt care less they are the big red machine and even 1000's of customers wouldnt matter.  However the cheese selection for lunch probably matters most to the empty suits in the high rise each day.

I originally had the Thunderbolt all I can say about that phone is don't do it.  I have had this phone for about 3-4 months and have had nothing but problems.  I am on my 3rd or 4th  charge and I can't tell you all of the problems I have had with it.  I have had the camera problem way before the update I took it to the store because the screen was frozen after 1 picture.  The rep did the usual and took the battery out and once he put it back the phone shut off again.  He could not get it started again without taking out the battery.  Then he decided it was having problems because of the ATT scanner so he deleted and took a couple of pics not issue so he says problem fixed.  Problem not fixed I called tech support they never had any complaint about the phone freezing after you take a pic.  If anyone has found a solution please let me know I would love to know how the problem was fixed

Still running fine after a new battery. I guess I was a lucky one. There was a bad batch of shipped batteries. An easy factor, previously mentioned, is heat. If your phone gets hot easily, you have a junk battery. New, old, whatever. There had to be a faulty batch. I have only read 1 or 2 people who claimed to still have the problem after a battery swap.

I'm on my 3rd Charge right now and it is doing the same thing as the previous two.

We need to blow up Samsungs customer support box to find and fix the problem.

Charge your battery to 100% and than leave your phone plugged into the charger.  Then, with your charger still plugged into your phone,  take some flash pictures again to see if a weak or bad battery is your problem.

This is just a way to test your battery .

Well, GB did not fix the problem, so I'm now convinced it's a hardware issue. Either a battery that can't support the amp draw of the phone doing the verizion battery sucking power drain while searching for a stronger signal while also supplying the power to operate the flash, or a phone that demands more power than the batteries are designed to provide.

Again in my shop, where phone signal is weak to non-existent I can take pictures and crash the phone with any battery level. the only way to keep it from crashing is to put the phone into AirPlane mode so it stops the verizion battery sucking while searching for a signal.

So the problem is real, and does exist outside of the software.

Merry Christmas,

Will

I am having the same issue.  It thought it was a battery issue but I have had it happen right after chaging the phone as well. When it locks I have to take the battery out and put it back in to turn the power back on.  Once turned on the battery lift still shows full.  Are there any solutions?

Will,

I can't help but feel it's your battery because in your second paragraph you said that putting it in airplane mode allowed the flash to work.  Re read your second paragraph.  In other words if nothing else is using the battery the flash works.

If  you don't already have one maybe you should get a NEW extended 3500 mAh battery and charge it overnight BEORE using it in your phone.

As you already know I have always said that a fully charged BAD (defective) battery will not work even when your phone shows that it is fully charged.  It may have the proper voltage BUT not enough amperage.
