I am a new Droid X owner. I have switched to this from the Blackberry Storm. I am going through and changing my contacts ringtones and I don't see how it's possible to have an actual ringtone for when they call you and then a separate tone for when they text you. On my blackberry, my Dad had a specific ringtone and he also had a specific text message tone separate from the default one I chose for all text messages. Can this do that as well? Do I need to download an App that will allow this to work for me? Any advice or help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Another user telili said "From your contact list choose edit-->scroll down the the "Additional Info" and click on the arrow. In here is where you would assign a specific ring tone for that contact.".
If that does not work then there is this app you can get called Ringo Lite. You can assign a ringtone to contacts with calling and texting.

The above mentioned edit, will only assign a specific ringtone for that contact. It will not allow you to assign separate tones for text and incoming call. I believe the only way of doing this, is with an app. I cannot recommend one since I don't need this function. But, I am sure others will come forward with some more besides the one posted above.

Thanks for the advice! I downloaded Ringo Lite and so far it seems to doing well. I am going to check out Ringo Pro and see if that is better as well. So far though, the comments didn't look too good on the Pro version. Going to wait that one out. You rock!!

The paid version has a tad bit more features to offer, but I have never bought it. I am fine with just the free app.

Ok to kind of expand on this question.... does the Pro app for Ringo Pro allow the ability to have only certain contacts be still ringing or notification tones while the phone default is set to silent? I have certain contacts that I don't want to have them on silent when I turn on silent at night. Hmmm... my Blackberry allowed me to do that.... it was easy to do as well... not sure about this one.
