Can't get to phone keypad

Hello!  I recently bought an HTC Incredible 2 and have been slowly getting the hang of it (I was flip phone until now).  For some reason, when I hit "phone" at the bottom of the screen, a small image ("phone") in a grey box pops up, but not the keypad.  So, I can only call my stored contact (which are few).  How can I get the keypad to immediately come up?  This is a new problem - it used to work just fine.  Thanks!

I ended up taking it to the Verizon store where they had to factory reset it.  Kind of a pain, but not the end of the world.  Let's hope it doesn't keep happening...

Hi Beachgrass,

I am happy to see the factory reset resolved your issue.  If you experience this problem again, before performing a master reset I would suggest completing these steps MENU > SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > MANAGE APPLICATIONS > tap on ALL > then select MULTI TOUCH KEYBOARD.  Once you select it choose CLEAR DATA > OK and FORCE STOP. I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any additional concerns.

Hi there!

I understand you're resistance to resetting your phone. There are apps in the Market, if you search, that will back up your information to an independent source provided by each app developer. Your contacts, paid apps and calendar will be backed up via Google/Gmail. However, if the steps above didn't resolve the issue, I would recommend a hard reset. There will be on-screen activation steps, as well as Google/Gmail sign on.

Thank you!
