Odd issue here. My brother texts me. If I type a message to him, it won't send. If I FWD that message to the same contact, it goes through no problem. Do I seriously have to start a new text every time or is there a way to fix this apparent bug?

I've been having similar problems but I didn't try forwarding msgs. I ported over from AT&T so I thought it had to do with that. My sms worked for a few hours today but I just figured out that for some reason if the phone number I am trying to text to has a +1 in front of the area code it wont send. I changed the number in my contacts so that it started with just the area code and tried again. It worked but then when I got a reply the +1 appeared again, but didn't appear in my contacts. Not sure what to do from here...

Glad to know it's not just me. For some reason if I associate his phone number with his FB profile it breaks again. If I keep him as two separate contacts, it can shove a 1 in front of one of the numbers and the other one stays usable. Seems a little unnecessary to me...

@koobaru, If your mobile telephone number has been ported to Verizon Wireless it may take up to 72 hours before text messaging will work completely. Hope this helps!

Hey there, I fixed the problem I was having. I just did a master reset on the phone and it stopped adding the +1 to that number when they replied. Good thing the phone is like brand new because I didn't have anything to lose.

Thanks for the help. Was hoping there was a way to fix everything without wiping out the entire phone.

Shay_J...
You wern't getting thanked.
FYI.
And the +1 thing has nothing to do with verizon porting numbers.
It's a droid problem.
Mine is doing it to my brothers phone number. And ONLY my brothers phone number.
