Car Dock

Is the car dock only for using the phone's GPS or can videos/music be played while the phone is in the dock?  Handsfree phone calls can be made while the phone is in the dock, correct?   These are probably stupid questions, but I don't want to shell out the money for the car dock if all it will allow me to do is use GPS...which I don't use often.

Dude, you are busy tonight!...

Are you using the Extended Battery and it's oh so necessary cover? Without a Dremel, you might have trouble making it fit.

But as for using the Car Dock, the only special thing it does (beside holding the phone securely, of course) is cause to phone to go into a special car landscape mode. You can still do everything with the phone. The line out of the phone is accesible. Handsfree calls, oh yeah.  Even voice-commands, LOL

Of course. with my new Otterbox Defender case that fits my extended battery cover, my car dock is useless. I told Ann, I looked at the dock with my Dremel in mind, but if I took the Dremel to it, there would be next to nothing left to hold the phone...

Just can't win, LOL

Yes, you can play music when the phone is in the dock. There are six large keys, one of them being for music, one for navigation, and truthfully, I forget what the other four are since I don't use a car dock.

I bough the Gomadic Car Vent Dock ... this is very nice and adjustable for Landscape or normal layout.  (PS, for mounting instructions, go to their online site .... much clearer instructions than what comes with it.)

Does the cold air coming from the vent cause any problems?  Condensation?  Extreme cold?  (Remember, I'm in hot and humid Florida.)

dude, you can do pretty much anything you want when its in the dock....I've text messaged from it. It's a great mount for GPS when you actually need to use, it but its not limited to just that

The car dock is sick. It brings up a totally different home screen that has 6 tiles, and you pick whatever you like. I like the Navigate by voice one, but you can use bluetooth while in the dock, navigate to a destination, listen to music on your SD card through the car speakers, (3.5mm cable required from the phone to an ipod port in the radio, if your car radio is compatible), determine your current location etc. There is a charging port in the dock, so if you have a power cable you can plug it in your 12 volt plug and the phone charges while it's docked. Hope that helps!

I've had a problem providing enuf power to keep the phone charged over a whole days drive even with the car charger connected directly and the USB cord on the side of the charger does NOT provide enuf charge. I'm disappointed on the whole with the charger even with it out of the case.
