When I first got the DROID at the store, they made me set up a Gmail account on the spot. I did not like it and wanted to get a different one. So, I got an additional gmail address and now want only the new one. I can't seem to get rid of the first one and transition only into the new one. Specifically with Google Talk, I can't change the address in which I receive and can send chats from. Any ideas?

I feel your pain, the person at the Verizon store where I bought my Eris typed in what I wanted wrong. Fortunately, it wasn't so bad that I didn't want to use it. As for fixing the issue, have you tried opening the gmail app, pressing menu, then accounts and selecting new account? I know you can add a new account this way, but I have never tried to change the primary account. Your other option would be to do a factory reset and sign in with the new accout. However, because all your stuff is still tied to an account, you would lose all your paid apps, and all your contacts, calendar dates, etc. would have to be changed over to the new account.

I regret to tell you this but the only way to do this that I have found is to factory restore the device and add the account that you want to be primary FIRST....Then you can add the others as desired.

The email address used to set up the phone is how all of the settings, apps, contacts, etc are managed and there's no way to change the primary address without a factory reset afaik. Do note that any paid apps you've downloaded will be lost as they're still tied to the primary email address and not the phone itself.
