Charge belt carrier

I would really like a way to attach my Charge to my belt in a way to make it secure, but easy to retrieve.

My ideal carrier would be a simple clip that I just shove the phone into and can quickly retrieve with one hand.

The carrier should not require that a casing be attached to the phone. (This includes carriers which allow a casing to be attached or not since those carriers will likely be too loose if the casing isn't used.)

It should also allow enough of the phone to protrude that the phone can be grabbed and pulled instead of having to push it up to be grabbed as several horizontal cases do.  This is more likely if the phone is held vertically since the longer axis would allow secure stowage and enough to grab.

I have not been able to find anything close locally.  There are a number of carriers offered online, but it's hard to tell if some of them will work.

I would be willing to use a vertical pouch which has a cover held by a snap (or maybe magnet) as long as the phone is secure in it and can be easily pulled out (meaning it is NOT snug in the carrier, which would increase the chance of fumbling it and dropping it as it is pulled out).

Thanks for any suggestions.  (I had a clip which worked beautifully with my Blackberry -- until it broke.  This time I know to buy two of them if I find one.)

Good luck with that.  I use the cover/holster combination from Verizon for the Charge, and find it very good, although it does not slide out of the holster as easily as I would like.  So this one is not for  you.

Thanks for the positive report.  The last I saw on the website, the reviews were quite negative.

Now, the problem is when I go back to the site to see if any more positive reviews are posted, I can't even find that product.  They have really messed up the accessory shopping.  It's very difficult to find anything, and the only thing listed for "Cases and holsters" under the Charge is a poorly reviewed pouch.

I picked mine up at the Verizon Wireless store when I bought the phone.  I traded in a Droid X2 within the 14 day return period because of a problem with the music player, but I had the same type of case for that one (for the week I had it) and liked it.  Maybe a trip to your nearest VZW store is in order (perhaps a phone call first, just to confirm).

I am using the one at the link below and am quite satisfied with it. It does hold the phone in firmly but I have no problems taking the phone out and putting it in with one hand. There is one reviewer that said that the phone comes out too easily. It might if you are wearing it  while playing football or something like that. :smileywink: To take it out , I just hold the top of the holster down with my thumb and lift the bottom of the phone with my index and middle finger

Thanks for the link.  The Verizon site makes it very difficult to follow it since it wants me to sign in on the way in, then drops me at the regular signin locaiton.  I also don't see why normal searches on the site don't show that product.  It used to lead me right to it.

From your description (and some info from the Amazon reviewers), it sounds is if there isn't anything specifically holding the phone in the holster -- just gravity and friction.  Is that correct?

Also the Amazon reviewers mention difficulty connecting the charging cable with the case on.  Anything to that?

I'm not a fan of pushing phones out of holsters, seems like inviting dropping it -- at least with my phone handling skill (or lack thereof).

I really liked my Blackberry belt clip, but apparently the volume of Charge sales is too low to get people interested enough to produce things like that.

That is correct. There is an @ 1/8 inch lip on the top of the holster. When you put the phone in, it kind of snaps in. Once you  push the top of the phone up past the lip, there is very little resistance and it slides out easily.

You will not be able to connect the charging cable with the phone in the holster. I've yet to find a cable that will clear the clasp next to the charging port

The shell/holster combination works by placing the phone in the shell (it sort of snaps in) and the SLIDING the shell into the holster.  The holster has curved arms that securely hold the shelled phone in the holster; it is not friction or magnets.

As to charging, here is my setup.  I have both a desk dock and a car dock (both by Samsung).  When at my desk or around the house (I have a home office), I leave the phone out of the shell/holster and usually leave it in the desk dock.  I keep the shell/holster in my car.  When going out, I leave the unshelled phone in my pocket, get in the car and put it in the car dock.  If I am going to carry the phone outside the car, I put it in the shell and then in the holster.

OK, so I'm a little OCD, but aren't we all?:smileyhappy:

Thanks to you and Ray for your detailed descriptions.  They give me sufficient info that I don't have to go back to my local Verizon store.  (I did go earlier, but chose not to be put on a list to wait for a salesperson instead of just being pointed to the case display.  Doorkeeper very customer-unfriendly.)

You are much more willing to shift your phone around than I am.  I'm very simple.  My intent is that my phone is either in the belt carrier, being charged, or being used.  (I haven't ruled out the desk dock, but it would be pretty secondary.  I have a home office, but I can't leave the phone there because I couldn't hear it ring when I'm elsewhere in the house.)
