Charge using USB to computer

Can I not charge my phone by connecting it to my computer via the USB cable? Every time I plug into my pc nothing happens except it recognizes I am connected. But charging wise the battery is still discharging and does not begin to charge.

I greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks

It is possible that the USB port you are using on the pc is not supplying enough current to the phone to make its charging algorithm happy. Check your pc specs to see if there is a special USB port that is designated for charging external devices.

It should work, as I only charge mine using USB.  If you are using the phone a lot while it's hooked up you may be draining it faster than the 500mA from USB can charge it.

Actually I had to select the USB Connection on the screen and then select Charge only. Once I did that it began charging. Thanks everyone  :smileyhappy:

Hi,

I believe it has to be at least USB 2.0 .Otherwise it will not support  Your connection. I have made connection on my Dell XPS desktop and it works , slowlier than on the docking station but finally it does. The best soluction would be to use docking station or regular charger. I hope it will help You somehow.

Yep! It has to be 2.0 USB connection to charge. Anything less than 2.0 can cause damage to your phone.

You may need to play with the connection.  I had mine USB plugged all the way into the computer port and it didn't register, but when I wiggled it out a bit, then it showed it was charging.   WEIRD but true.

I just got my phone yesterday and am still trying to configure, etc it.  But I love it.  The battery life is far less than I'm used to coming from a BB world.  But I also realize it's running more at one time than the BB did.

Good luck!
