Charging Port bad yet, again.

Oh I cannot tell you how annoyed I am.....This is my 2nd HTC Incredible 2 from Verizon to have a charging port go bad. I had this phone replaced in January (under warranty) for the port being so loose that I had to place something under the charger where it connects to the phone, then sit something heavy on my phone to get the connection just right to charge. Now, here we are 8-9 months later, same issue just not as bad (yet). Right now I carry a match box car with me to put under my charger where it connects to the phone. This seems to be the only way to get the right connection for a charge.

Verizon's response? "Sorry, you are out of warranty. But you are eligible for an upgrade!"
No, Thank you. I have had this phone for 9 months at the most, taken very good care of it and it should be covered!!

I do not care to be back in a contract right now. They also suggest I use my insurance to make a claim.....Again, no. I don't get excited about paying the crazy deductible of $99 or $199 (I've been told both by CSR) to get it replaced.

So.........why can't charging ports be fixed? Or can they?? I love my phone, but obviously this will get worse and I won't be able to charge it at all!!

I can see why you wouldn't want to carry a Matchbox car around with you.

When I got my Inc 2 last May, the port was loose from day one. I put a tight-fitting TPU case on it right away, which seems to have held everything together, because I haven't had any problems.

You could try a charging dock. The ones I've seen for this device hold the phone horizontally, so it'll still plug in to the port, but maybe it'll hold it more snugly. Or, if your port gets really bad, you could buy a spare battery and buy a charger that plugs into the wall and charges only the battery. I know, not an ideal solution, but if you had two batteries you could swap them out every day.

I feel your pain! I had mine go bad in December of 2011 when I was in NYC for business. It was so embarrassing to have my phone go dead and not be able to retrieve any information. I hadn't taken my laptop as I do most of my work from the phone. I walked down to the nearest store and was totally blown off! They couldn't do anything for me. I raise enough of a stink that they agreed to replace my phone under warranty. Unfortunately, they would have to ship it to my address. I was on a week long trip that started the day prior! They offered no solution what so ever! I eventually called the insurance to file a claim, paid the $90 and had the phone at my home when I returned. Good thing I did as the Verizon warranty phone didn't arrive for another two days! That is 5 total days to get the phone! Now, as you stated, here we go again 9 months later. The port is acting up again. BTW, it is not that the port is loose for the charger plug. It's that the port breaks free from the phone. Eventually, the connections for charging break as well and it will no longer charge, as you know. This time I called. I'm do for an upgrade this November. However, the only solution, because the phone is out of warranty, is to get locked into a phone I do not want or like for two years. I suppose it's because they cannot sell the LG Enlighten that they are willing to give that to me free, except it affects my upgrade! There is no such thing as customer service anymore! If there are others with this problem don't you thing there is an issue with the phone design? We did nothing to these phones but use them normally!

@Smoothann and @Judge - The insurance replacement is definitely the best option to utilize if the charger port is broken and you do not have the extended warranty through TEC insurance. The factory warranty is good for only one year, after that, TEC would be needed to cover the phone beyond the original year.

Let us know if we can assist you further please!

I was told that there was nothing that could be done for me. If you can help with a replacement phone, I'd be very grateful. Thanks for the response.

Don't feel bad I have had three replacement phones all with the issue of not charging. I have gotten to the point where I don't want this phone anymore. I haven't been able to use e phone since June. Every time I speak with someone from Verizon they give me a different answer. I was told yesterday that a phone was going to be sent out and did not receive a phone. Called back today to see why they didn't send the phone that they said they would send and they are saying today that they can not send me that phone. I am pissed to the max because the phone they said they were going to send was one that they offered me. Not one that I asked for.
