Clear cache/data regularly?

Is it just good to clear cache and clear data from time to time on my phone?  Will doing this delete anything (settings, etc) and which areas in my phone should I all be checking for the cache/data?

Hi Droidxnewbie. Great questions! It's definitely a good idea to clear out unneeded information from your phone once in a while. Your phone is like a mini computer and just like in your computer, it's good to clear temporary files and clear our cookies and unused applications to keep it running smoothly.

Clearing application cache is a great way to purge temporary information from applications that take up a lot of memory. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > tap the Menu key and choose "Sort By Size" to see what apps are using the most memory. This generally won't delete settings associated with the application, but will remove unneeded cookie crumbs.

Clearing data, on the other hand, will reset the application and usually remove settings and log ins from that application. Similar to just starting the application over from the first time it was installed.

It's also good to clear your temporary internet files in your browser occasionally to keep your browser running fast and smooth.

Enjoy the phone. We're here for you if you need us.
