Connected to Multimedia Station

I have only had my Motorila Droid for 2 weeks.  Today I noticed an icon in the upper left corner that looks like a TV.  When I drag it down it says -Ongoing "Connected to multimedia station.  Select to open launcher"  Nothing happens when I select it.  I do not have a docking station.  How do I get rid of this?

Download the advanced task killer and kill the car mode and dock station off, that will fix your problem. Every droid user needs to have a task manager app. I use advanced task killer.

Thanks for your reply, however I tried this -downloaded Advanced Task Killer-free, but car mode docking station does not appear on the list.  Any thoughts?

is this notification only happening when your droid is in a case with a magnet clasp?

it is known that if you have a case that uses a magnet to secure the droid in the case, will activate certain apps.

No- the notification started yesterday and is always there.  I don't know if my case has a magnet - it's not like a holster-I never take it off.

What you are seeing is the ICON on the top bar (not sure what it's called) telling you that you are connected to the multimedia station.  If you press it, it should take you back to the multimedia page with the clock and weather, etc.  For some reason, your Droid thinks it's docked.  Take it out of the case and see what happens.

if you want to know if your case has a magnet in it, take the droid out of the case.

hold the flap of the case (the part that folds over) then slowly rub the flap (careful, you dont want to excite your droid) against the backside of the droid (remove any covers/shells first) if the screen suddenly changes to the "Car Home" app then you have a magnet in the flap.

I appreciate all the replies.  I guess I don't really know the correct vocabulary, but I think what I have is a shell- not a case- as there is no flap.  And I'm not even sure how to take it off since they put it on for me at the store.  If I go to into the store will anyone be able to help me or is it strictly sales?

I had this problem with my Droid for a couple of days and it may have

been caused by a new purse with a magnetic closure.  I didn't know

what to do - so I COMPLETELY POWERED IT OFF and then when I turned

it back on the icon and message had disappeared.  Voila!  Hope it

works for you...
