I'm hoping someone can help me. My phone did a system update around 3:00am and now, when I open my message app, all my contact pictures have disappeared, it's just that gray no contact picture. I've tried reloading the pictures, cleared data, cleared cache and they are still missing. But, when I open a specific message, the picture shows up. I don't know what else to do. Anyone have any ideas?

How were the pictures linked to your contacts? Facebook or Gmail or manually added?

Manually added through contacts. The pictures are still in contacts and they still show when I open the message.

That is a little bit strange. I'm stumped.

It makes absolutely no sense. They were fine yesterday then my phone updated and they are gone.

Has anyone tried deleting a photo for one contact, rebooted the phone and then add the photo back? It might force a re-population of the photos in the message threads.
The other option would be to backup your text messages using a application from the Play Store. Then clearing the data for the text message application and dialer storage. This will delete the text message threads. Then you can restore the text messages using the application that you used to backup the messages.

I've tried clearing the data, but when I go back into the messages application all the messages are still in there. I've also restarted several times...

Just as an FYI I am having the same issues. The messaging app was fine and then after the upgrade I no longer have contact pictures showing in the messaging list. Seems like a silly thing to miss to me before sending out an update.

Just wanted to throw my name into the mix of people running into the same error. Hoping we get some sort of resolution...

I also had the same issue. My wife and I both have the Incredible 2, and after the update we both immediately noticed the lack of photos in the messaging app. Within each conversation the photo still appears, but not in the list of messages. I hope Verizon can fix this issue soon. Next time I will wait to download the update.

My phone automatically downloaded this update. I hope they resolve this quickly, this is really stupid!

Same issue here. Frustrating! My phone did the update automatically. No contact pics in the messaging home screen. Contact pics still appear under contacts.

HTC worked with me for an hour and couldn't fix it. She kept wanting me to download different apps and I finally told her I would not download another one. She said there was nothing more they could do. It just was not going to get fixed. Can't wait to upgrade, I will not get another HTC phone.

Same issue here. My phone just did an update automatically, without any notifications and now all the images are gone from the list. I still see them under the individual messages but when I view the list they are all gray.

Same problem here...
Why do we get these updates automatically installed?
What's wrong with getting a text msg that a new update is available ????

Add another name to this list... And man, do I not want to be on this list! Such a silly little error to miss during QC that results in way too much frustration!

My phone updated this morning and the same thing is happening now to me too. Extremely frustrating, but I'm comforted in knowing that I'm not alone. Why hasn't VERIZON responded to help us? They love to collect our money, but when it comes to fixing something they take their sweet time...
