Contacts and linkage

As a former BB my contacts were transferred to my awesome Droid x.  However, I am also on gmail and faceable so now have up to 3 entries in the contact list for many of my friends!!  Some are linked to 'Google' and some to 'Facebook' and some to both but he full information on each is not the same or at least incomplete!  I wouldn't  mind the link to facebook so I get the picture.

What I really would like is to create a single entry for each person - put all of the information there - phone (home, work and cell) email (or two), snail mail, birthday etc. all in that one entry. Then be able to put them in folders (or lists or whatever) so that I could call them up as family, or work etc just like I can favorites on my homepage.   Can the Droid do that or do I have to find an app for it?

You can join contacts manually on your Droid X by using the Link contact feature within the contact application menu. Below I have provided instructions on how to link and unlink contacts:

To Link Contacts:

  1. Open your contacts or favorites.
  2. Touch the contact you want to add information to.
  3. Press Menu and touch Link contact.
    4. Touch the contact whose information you want to join with the first contact.
    5. The information from the second contact is added to the first contact, and the second contact is no longer displayed in the Contacts list.
To Unlink Contacts:
Touch the contact whose information you want to detach with the first contact. Press Menu and touch Unlink contact.
