I would say before ditching the cover, make sure you have it installed correctly. For example, if the top part of the BodyGlove case is not installed correctly, it will cover the microphone.

Not to forget the plastic covers are breakable. The hard plastic covers that I have always had usually always break when I accidently drop them on a hard floor.
