DROID 2 OTA Gingerbread update not working

After all the hype (bad and good) I've been looking forward to the gingerbread update.  Understanding that the rollout may take several days (weeks?) I didn't get to excited.  Anyway, while attempting the OTA update I get the message "Check for update was not available at this time, Try again later".  The udpate doesn't even start to download.  FYI - I haven't rooted the phone.  I tried the *228 and chose both option 1 and 2 with no luck.  I live in Marietta, OH and verizon service is great, but I understand we are probably in the last area to get any updates.

There could be two possible things that could be causing you issue...

1. The update server is getting hammered and cant push to your device at this time

2. A application on your device is blocking the update application to work properly.

Try rebooting and then try or try uninstalling apps and see if this helps because there has been situations that a users device wouldn't update until a hard reset.

Hope these suggestions helps some.
