Deleted...Sorry...I didn't run the search to see if this had already been adressed. Short answer if anyone else has the same problem...pre-installed apps where the uninstall is permanently grayed out can't be removed. Someone suggested Launcher Pro to remove the ICON(s) but the app(s) themselves are permanent.

Launcher Pro is definitely an option but keep in mind that it isn't supported by Verizon Wireless. The native apps on the device is embedded into the operating system and cannot be removed from the device.

Post has been covered but , for me launcher pro slowed down my phone. But it does hide any app in the app tray you don't want to see and it keeps the app tray nice and clean,however the preinstalled apps cannot be removed.
