@B33 - 2.3.4 is the correct Android version and the new System Version update brings it to 4.5.621  .. so indeed it looks like they're rolling it out.

I just did the update, and now my phone is stuck at a bootloader screen. When I restart the phone it loads up normally, then shuts off and back into the bootloader screen.  Stupid update...what do I need to do??

Owned Droid X about 16 mos:  About 12 hours into OTA update and android.process.media was still using battery almost faster than system can recharge. Use as an alarm clock and clock process didn't even fire off six hours after 1st reboot. Took quite some time to narrow down potential issues.  After 1 new 16GB flash drive, removal of several apps/reinstallations, and finally some stability is starting to show up. Spontaneous reboots after freezes were common.

android.process.media showed 58% of battery consumption immediately following reboot for several of the initial hours of use.  3G indicator lit up nonstop like Christmas tree during that time.

Haven't seen enough posts on the web to isolate but copying flash-old to flash-new without pictures, videos, and music helped. Now adding back items in limited fashion.  Cleared every running application cache as well.  Currently 3 hours of stable uptime.

Peeps, I would be very very interested if any of you can just make a point to Power Off your phone every night, if possible -  just to see if YOU encounter the Power-Back-Up issue with this update.  It's totally great that we can now run for days without rebooting the phone, but unless you're Powering Off on a regular basis, you're likely not experiencing the bug that is still occurring (for me & some others on the Moto forum) ..   I've been testing this since receiving .621 several weeks ago (SOAK test) and have had 5 occurrences of the Auto-Power-Up after Powering OFF.

please tell me where i missed anything about 621 that said, "you will be able to run for days on end without rebooting"?

somewhat contrary to what verizon had recommended about rebooting the dx daily if you were a heavy user, back when i got the dx in dec '10.

What you are missing is the comments I made that I ALWAYS rebooted daily because my phone is usually a buggy glitchy hunk of .......

After the update, I was pleasantly surprised that it was running so smoothly that it went almost two weeks without me NEEDING to reboot it. Hence my comments about going so long without a reboot.

Alas, it is back to its buggy glitchy self.

All I can say is that it is very very intermittent.  PS - do you have LOOKOUT installed?

No re-start again, Cody. Let you know if it does, lest someone else who isn't paying atttention decides to interject with some smarmy comments.

Yea, I know what you mean .. 🙂  ... I'm continuing my "testing" -- powering off every night.  I've uninstalled LOOKOUT for now based on my correspondence with Moto ...  I only had 1 power-up after that uninstall ... 1 week later.  Not sure what to do about an AntiVirus APP if it Lookout was the issue.  But I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

later.

Greetings.

Yesterday afternoon I installed the update and my X immediately began not functioning correctly.  The phone was hotter than normal after the download - not just from the download, but after leaving battery out and reinstalling when cool it would heat up again.  The battery went from a full charge to 40% in appx. 30 min.

Other issues were an all white screen, or an all black screen, or my normal home screen that would either not respond when I touched the screen or it would be a delayed reaction (not responding at first, then respond to multiple touches in quick succession, then not respond again) or the X would re-start on it's own as others have reported.

Calls into the phone would either go directly to voice mail or not be recognized on the X until the 8th or 9th ring (as heard by the caller).

These issues were not resolved by powering down and/or removing the battery and re-installing.

Late yesterday I removed the micro SD card to see if that would make a difference and it worked, so far.

All of the apps. that were installed on the SD card or no longer accessible.  The X still seemed sluggish after powering up without the card AND I received about 15 SMS's that had been sent throughout the afternoon & evening, and two alarms that had been set for earlier in the day.

I then re-installed the SD card and the same problems came back.  Took the SD card out again and all was relatively well.  By then the battery was so low (red zone) I put it on charge for the overnight.

This morning all seems normal so far except for a bit of sluggishness still.

Reading the posts here I have now removed Lookout and wiped the cache and I will scan the SD card with my PC & re-install again & if need be I will wipe the SD card & try again.

Wish me luck.

Here's what I have found.

Removing the anti-virus program had no effect.

Removing the memory card solved virtually all issues (still seems a little

sluggish as compared to before the update).

After the update, and with the memory card removed,

my Motorola Bluetooth hands free unit didn't communicate with the X

anymore. After powering down the Bluetooth unit (and the X) more than once

the X was again able to communicate with the unit.

I transferred all files from the memory card to a desktop folder using my

PC, and reformatted the card.

I have now re-installed the memory card and powered up the phone and all

appears well. I am expecting to still find it sluggish, if that is not the

case or anything else becomes an issue I will post again.

P.S. I upset one of my co-workers who had the same symptoms as I and which

Verizon couldn't help him with, forcing him to buy a new phone. The

salesperson advised him not to use the old memory card and to buy a new one

for the new phone.

After I shared my experience with him he realized that his OS updates were

automatic and that must have been the problem because it started the same

time my manual update was performed.

Good luck!

My post came up 3x's because I am an idiot.  I'm new at posting to forums & getting responses via email.  I thought I had to answer each response individually, now I know better.

Back on the DroidX issue.  The phone is still not the same.  The phone, which was my alarm clock too, will not always alarm with sound.  Prior to the update I would silence it for the night (Shush app) & the alarm would sound in the AM even while still shushed.  Now sometimes yes, sometimes no will the alarms actually "sound."  Also, ring-tone I had downloaded from Zedge.net are no longer working on the DX - only Android sounds.  Battery life is still reduced since the OS update as well.  Call me paranoid but this all started a short time after I became eligible to upgrade the phone to 4G with a discount.  That's a whole 'nother issue.

I was going to hold out for the Razr Maxx to drop in price as all the others have done but the Razr Maxx has actually increased by $50.00 since March 20, 2012.

On 3/20 I received a mailing that I was eligible for "special" discounted pricing, plus an additional $50.00 "loyalty discount."  Online it showed price with 2-year contract as $299.99, but because it had now been 2-years since the last upgrade my "special" price would be $249.99.  I chatted with a salesperson online (chat was emailed to me) who confirmed that I would get the $50.00 loyalty discount on top of the upgrade discount & pay only $199.99.  Now when checking the price online it shows the same prices but in another chat a few minutes ago the salesperson said that without a "promo code" (the mailings, including the one that came today, don't have a code just the different name of "loyalty discount" vs. the "upgrade discount" mentioned online) that the price is $249.99.

Is it just me or is this being presented to others this way?

Keep in mind that the loyalty discount has a six month expiration date started at the date you became eligible for an upgrade (20 months into your two year contract).  If you do use it in that time frame, you will lose it and have to pay the standard subsidized pricing.

Thanks, but according to Verizon I became eligible on 03/20/2012.

A gentleman at one Verizon Wireless store told me the mailing,

which specifically phrases it as a "Loyalty Credit" (I erred in my previous

post), is the same thing as what the website phrases "upgrade discount." I

know this is not correct.

When I was "shopping" online on 04/18/12 the top of my screen indicated

"Upgrade at Discounted Price + $50 Credit."

When I checked for that again today the top of my screen no longer made any

mention of the $50 Credit.

Another discrepancy is that my phone shows that I am eligible to upgrade

"at a discounted price" while my Wife's phone is simply eligible to

upgrade. For her, with no "discount" her two-year contract price on Razr

Maxx is $249, while my two-year cntract price is $299 before the upgrade

discount. This is what some merchants get prosecuted for - DISCOUNTS THAT

DO NOT EXIST!

I saved AS pdf files the screen-prints of my Chat session confirming the

$199 price for the Maxx, the discount price + loyalty credit for my phone

and the screen for the Wife's phone price, and a PDF of the mailing for

the loyalty credit.

To top off this whole issue, today I read on a website that effective

4/22/12 VZW is instituting a $30 fee for all existing customers who upgrade

their phones. Looks as if Verizon wants us to go to AT&T or Sprint.

Sprint and ATT already charge an upgrade fee when customers renew their contracts. It is currently $36 for those two companies, which is the same as their activation fee.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Does anyone know why the DROID X goes into a reboot cycle after the recent update? I mean a 8 hour reboot cycle?
