Deleting Groups in the phonebook

Need some help on how to delete groups I've set up in my phonebook? Ive tried holding it down but nothing comes up. Thanks.

Delete a group

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key to see your applications tray.
  2. Tap Contacts.
  3. Press the options key. (4 squares located beneath the screen)
  4. To delete a group, tap Contacts:All contacts.
  5. Tap on the group name.
  6. Press the menu key.
  7. Tap delete group.

Sorry, but the information you gave is for the DEVOUR and NOT for the Droid X. First, you do not have to hit any menu key to see the application tray. You have to tap on the triangle in the circle at the bottom of any screen to pull up the application tray. Second, you do not need the application tray to get into groups, just tap on the contacts figure, also found on every screen. , The contact figure is at the bottom of the screen and looks like a figure. Once there, notice a bar on the top of the sceen that should say, "Contacts:All contacts" on the left and a green plus sign on the right. Just tap on the left side of that bar. That will bring up all the groups you created. From there, I am at a loss. Tried every trick I know of to delete a group but found none. Including keeping my finger on a group hoping to get a pop-up menu. No luck. So, as far as I can see, and I may be wrong, there is no way to delete a group once it is created.

Here is information to add and remove contacts from Droid X contacts may have to be deleted individually .


 

Open Contacts at bottom right of homescreen or from within applications tray
Tap + to add another entry
Tap - to remove this entry
Tap the contact, then press Menu > Edit contact or Delete contact.

Tap the contact icon, the white figure on the right bottom of every screen. At the top there is a bar that says "contact" on the left and a bright green plus sign on the right. Tap on the left side of that bar. Tap on the group you wish to delete, for example, "work." Tap on the menu key at the left bottom. Tap on "more." Tap on "Delete Group." You must do this separately for every group you wish to delete.
