Deleting email without opening/frequency checking for new email

Anyone know how to delete an email without actually opening it? I get spam emails and I don't want to have to open them to delete them. Also it seems like a poor design that the most often I can get new emails is 5 minutes. When I had the Blackberry Curve I got my emails as soon as they were sent. Any way to change this?

to the left of each email is a box where a checkmark will appear when touched, then a bar pops up at the bottom, where one of the options is delete. works on unopened emails too.

i have so many emails stored on the internet that keep popping up on my iphone after i delete the 25 that appear, i need to find out a way to delete on the web the 3000 emails that are stored there that i do not open! i open them from my mac mail and thank god they all do not come up there.

 

any help would be greatly appreciated.
