Deleting emails

Without knowing it, I have accumulated over 1000 "deleted" emails in my trash bin.  Does anyone know how to finally get rid of these emails other than deleting them one by one??  I thought if I deleted them once, they were GONE!  I have the Motorola Droid.  Thanks!!

Which mail system (Outlook, Gmail, etc.) is being synced with your Droid? Try deleteing them there where you can easily select multiple items.

I'm using Outlook but it's a Comcast account.  I tried deleting all the old messages off the Comcast website but that didn't have any impact on what's on the Droid.  I keep the Outlook email pretty well cleaned up - as well as the inbox on the phone.  I didn't know that when I deleted a message on the phone, it went into a trash bin.  And there are no "delete" options on the trash bin.  I'm not having the same problem on my gmail account.    Even the guy at Verizon couldn't figure it out - he has a Droid Eris and it does allow for deleting deleted emails.

I don't sync with Outlook so I can't offer much help. Hopefully, someone who is using Outlook can provide some advice.

you can set up a google account within Outlook..I have done so for my wifes and my Gmail Acct..

Here is the web site to show you how : http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=77689. I use the profile to delete all or some of my gmail. It's especially helpful for when you travel with your laptop.

I too have this problem.  Mostly I use Outlook on my computer to view and delete email.  Occasionally, I use my Motorola Droid to check my POP3 email accounts.  I have it set to never delete emails from the server as I don't want my email getting deleted from my account, only from my phone.  When I download / open the messages in Outlook they are removed from the server at this time.  When I delete the email from the inbox on the Droid, it goes into the trash folder on the phone, however there is no option to empty the phone's trash folder.  How do I get rid of these trash emails without doing it one at a time?  Thats way too time consuming, not to mention a PITA!

BTW, I don't sync my Droid with Outlook.  I sync only contacts and calendar with Gmail using CompanionLink.  Gmail then syncs with the phone.

Thanks!
