Display Screen Problem

I purchased the Droix X in August 2010 with minimal problems. However, a couple days ago, 1/3rd of the screen has blacked out. Not completely. It attempts to change colors to reflect whatever screen I'm on but I'm still unable to see anything beneath it.
I went to a Verizon Wireless store and they said that I had to call the Verizon directly and they would send me a new one. I called and they needed to troubleshoot it and have me call from a landline but I only have the cellphone.
Is there any way I can fix it myself? Or can Verizon troubleshoot online through chat or something?

This sounds like a pretty simple issue. Contact Motorola through their website and tell them the issue, they should tell you that the device needs to be replaced. Then call VZW back, let them know you already spoke with Motorola and they told you that the screen is defective or whatever they say. This should side-step any trouble shooting.
