Factory reset is in your cards but I will tell you its not that bad. Don't goto Verizon though do it yourself. Turn off the phone and then hold down the volume up, power and home buttons at the same time. When the Samsung logo comes up release all three at the same time. It should take a few seconds but will come up to a screen in which you use the volume keys to select factory reset. Select it and then exit out and your phone will boot up. I had to do it myself and actually while upset at first glad that I did.

Pull the battery - works every single time.

Try this before a Factory Reset.
Also, if you cannot turn off your phone also try this...Remove battery, remove SIM card, and remove SD card.
Wait 2-3 minutes, all the time hugging your phone, and then re-install the SD card, the SIM card, and then the battery.
Not sure but hope this helps. It cannot hurt.

Jerry....no hugging involved but I did manage to use every finger I have and hit all the right buttons while installing the battery and managed to get the reset screen before it booted. Everything is working okay now. I like the new colors on the top bar but they look ridiculous with the icky brown pull down.

Jane,
I'm glad my idea fixed your problem WITHOUT the draconian Factory Reset like the Verizon folks seem to suggest all to often.
I hope more folks try it rather then the Factory Reset...which I abhor!
