Dock Issues

If you do NOT have a desk dock or a car dock for the Samsung Droid Charge, you do NOT need to read any further.

Below are two photos of the Droid Charge, the top in the desk dock and the bottom in the car dock.  The photos show the "home screen" that phone uses when the it is docked.  This screen shows up automatically when the phone is placed in the dock.  You can disable the automatic switch to this screen from the "normal" home screen(s) in the Settings.

I have found the following issues with the software that Samsung added to the Android OS for using the Charge in the desk and car docks:

  1.  These screens are not customizable.  There are no settings available when these screens are on.  Therefore, there is no way to remove the current icons and substitute different ones. Long pressing an icon does nothing.
  2.  Although you can change the Settings so that these screens do not appear automatically when the phone is docked, after docking these screens will always appear when you press the home button at the bottom of the phone.  Therefore, you have to use the back button (sometimes pressing several times) to navigate back to the "normal" home screens.
  3.  Sometimes you get "stuck" in an application and can't get back to the "normal" home screens.  When in navigation, pressing the back button will cause you to exit the application.  If you don't want to exit, you either go to the dock home screen or have to stay in the application.

Anyone else having these problems?  Any workarounds or solutions out there?  Thanks in advance.

I don't like the fact the there is no sleep timer for the music app, altough I did figure a work around on that one.  I exit the desk screen, go to Tunewiki (which I don't really like) and start a sleep timer with music, then click back to the desktop app with the music already playing.  It seems to work ok.
