Hello -On the GPS function for my new Droid X phone, I have two options on location and security settings -use GPS satellites (locate to street level), and Enable Assisted GPS (enhanced location provider using assisted GPS, preferred service. Is there something like a roaming charge for those if I enable them on my phone? I do have the monthly data access plan

GPS option doesnt charge to use or recieve signal from gps radio but the GPS software requires data plan to use software because it recieves all its map data from the web. By the way how did you pull off not having a data plan when its a manditory option?

Like Wildman wrote, the GPS function is free. The only charge is for VZW Navigation, which isn't even as good as the google Nav.
The GPS Satellite and Assisted options not affiliated with a charged service. The assisted simply uses tower triangulation to speed up your GPS location. It's not as accurate as the Satellites, but it gets you going while your device picks up satellites.
