Droid 2 3G Issue

I've owned my Droid 2 for about 2 months and have twice had to do a complete reset to get my 3G network connectivity back again. Has anyone had similar experiences and does anyone know how to stop this from happening. I've updated to the most recent version (2.3.30.A955) and tried all the other solutions I could think of...turning phone on/off, etc. Nothing works to recover the network other than resetting. This is a huge issue...backup only restores data and applications. I still lose the widgets I've paid for and the system set-up information (like home screens, etc.) Verizon tech support has been no help other than to tell my to reset. UGGGGGG!!!!!

What I recommend is that you try a PRL (Prefered Roaming List) Udpate.

You can do this by:

  • Power on your Verizon Wireless phone.
  • Dial *228 from your home digital coverage area, followed by the SEND key.
  • When prompted, press option #2, to update your phones roaming capabilities (This process may take up to 2 minutes).
  • Once completed, a confirmation message will be played, and a message will display on the phone screen.

I had a similar issue. I had tried everything. THe *228 option 1 and option 2 nothing helped. After a long phone call with the higher level of support, 3 day wait and return phone call I was advised that when I had came over from Alltel to Verizon during the Alltel / Verizon merger that I had been put on what they called a "hybrid roaming list" and I had never came off. Once they changed the roaming list option in their software on their end I then did a *228 option 2 and BANG I have 3G consistantly where I had not before. I am not sure if you were with another company that merged with Verizon, but it is certainly something to consider. A *228 will not correct the problem I listed without verizon changing the PRL list on their end first.

Again, I am not sure if your problem is consistant with mine, but I thought I would put it out there as an option.
