How do I get the dailer face on my Droid 2 to stay on during a phone call long enough to dial in a password?

There are sensors in the phone so that when you hold it near your face it should "black out" so that your face isn't pushing buttons on the screen. If you are holding it "just wrong" you can activate these with your had as well. When trying to type numbers after a call has been initiated I try to hold the phone "level" as much as possible and don't have a problem with the screen blacking out. Perhaps you just need to play with where you are holding it a bit???
