Droid 2 Global Gingerbread update

Yesterday the tech blogs wrote about the impending Gingerbread update for the Droid 2 Global for which the details can be found on your website under Support. Is the update going to be rolling out for the original Droid 2? I'm a little irritated as it looks like it will not be coming to the original D2 as well. The fact that Verizon introduced the D2 in August 2010 and then 3 months later rolled out the Global is kind of a slap in the face. Now it looks like you're going to update the Global before the original? I'm not sure what level that makes sense but it certainly is a good way to anger any customers who didn't have the foresight to know that their carrier was going to release a more powerful version of their exact phone three months, if not less, after their purchase of the original D2.
Please provide some clarification on this or if you’re in the same boat as me add your comments.

Hello Drasek,
I certainly can understand your frustration. At the moment we don’t have any information about a software release for the Droid 2 just the Droid 2 Global. I do encourage you, if you haven’t already, to sign up for email updates for any updates that may be occurring in the future using the following link.

I've followed the instructions in the 'support' link at http://support.vzw.com/system_update/droid_2_global.html
No OTA update is available (my phone is at release 2.4.330.A956.Verizon.en.US)
When can I expect this update to be available to me?

um, yea I also am wondering WHY i cannot update my phone to that gingerbread when they said that when verizon release the droid 3 .. than the droid 2 global would get on that same os .. and would be able to screen capture/ screen shot they screens!! .. I need that to be done IMMEDIATELY!! what is the holdup??? You pay the MOST for a verizon plan .. so .. i think we should get things better compensated .. b/c every other phone company has unlimited everything plans for lots less, and I am not even getting good frequency .. my phone frequency dies all the time even OUTSIDE .. and i live in nyc .. so ..again .. WHEN IS THIS GINGERBREAD UPDATE GOING TO BE AVAILABLE FOR DROID 2 GLOBAL?????

DatGyrlVida, if the phone bugs you so much, get a different phone and pay for the change. Your rant and near flaming are not needed here. Your phone frequency problem could be anything, including the junk of apps you probably installed on the Droid interferring with the phone's operations. If you want some assistance on this forum, please describe your phone issues professionally and we can see if we can resolve it together.
And no, I do not work for VerizonWireless.
My experience with my Droid 2 Global is that I had it replaced three times under warranty due to loss of 3G connection, and a reboot could not resolve it. I since then purchased My Backup Pro app to do a complete phone backup, so if I need to replace the phone again (to my SD card or private cloud), I can reimage it. Plus, whenever I install a new app, I do a full backup beforehand so if the app corrupts my phone (or interfers with any phone operation like reception), I can do a reimage on the phone to the previous working state. Uninstalling the offending app does not necessarily remove the junk from its installation. Something for you to consider...

I had a Droid 2 which I received the new update for 10 days ago and loved it. Since then I had to get a replacement D2G that does not have the new update. First of all why would Verizon send out a phone without the new update already in it, and second, why can't I get the update myself?

VZ pulled the GB update after an encryption flaw was found with Exchange.

That Motorola Forum has stalled.
Anything that the Verizon experts here can enlighten us with?
-Droid 2 Global replacement phone with 2.2 installed. Hoping and waiting for 2.3.

It's been almost a month since the GB (aka 2.3) update was pulled for the Droid 2 Global. Can someone from Verizon give us any idea when it will reappear?

As always, Motorola promise the update is coming soon. (They need to fix it, not Verizon)
And if you really want 4.5.607 (the update that was pulled) Google is your friend.

We do not have a date when this update will be available again. Once available, it will be pushed to your device.

Also there is more information in the Droid 2 forum.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I got the GB update about a week ago on my D2G, and for the most part I am happy with it. It does however have it's glitches. One that is minor but starting to bug me is that every time I recieve a text message, I get the message twice. This is happens from all contacts, and on nearly every message (i think 2 out of about the last 150 messages didn't have a duplicate.) Any thoughts on what might be causing this or how to fix it? Oh, and I am using the stock messaging app, no 3rd party messaging apps. Much appreciated!

Thanks for bringing the duplicate message issue to our attention. I also want to thank you for advising us that you are using the stock message vs. 3rd party message apps.
I will forward your information to our product development team.

I just had a new OS (I had no option to decline it) pushed to my Motorola Droid X2 Global. Where can I find instruction on what to do after installation? I no longer have any apps working including the app market.

Oh my word, I LOATHE the Gingerbread update.... it took a terrible phone and somehow managed to make it even worse. What I wouldn't give to have the old OS back. Can't even text on it anymore as after every word I type, the text message app closes as soon as I hit the space key. And no, I'm not running a bunch of apps - only the same three that I have had all along. The only thing that changed was the new OS!
WHY am I forced to live with this "DOWNdate" that obviously hasn't been properly de-bugged and that I didn't want to begin with? Can anyone tell me if there's a way to undo the update?

I hate to sound like a script-driven customer service robot, but.... have you tried a factory reset? They really shouldn't be needed after an OS upgrade, but many people have found that that does fix the issue.
I wish we understood why the update works great for many (including me!) and causes so many problems for others....

When should all Droid 2 Globals expect to be updated? The other member on my plan with the same phone, purchased at the same time, updated about 2 weeks ago. Thanks.
