I just have to click "update" to update my phone to droid 2.3, however when I click to update, the phone tells me that there are no updates. Just wondering what is going on. Thanks,

The update hasn't been released yet. The Motorola driven soak test hasn't started yet. There is no anounced ETA. No other accurate news is available. Some VZW support techs seem to be misinformed. The update is not and has not ever been available to anyone.
Talk about confusing... They even have the page with information on the Verizion website! Geeze.

The link you provided reflects the 2.3 system version, but not the Android version. This is the reason that you do not see the update on your device. The 2.3 Android version is Gingerbread; however, that update is not yet available. I apologize for any inconvenience.
You always have the option to check your device periodically for the update. You can also click here to sign up for email updates, so you will be notified when the Android Gingerbread update becomes available on your device.
