Droid 2 In Pocket Detection Help!
jibberjabber80

Hi all I was wondering if someone could enlighten me on an issue.

I work in an office where I have 4 people that were issued Droid 2's for work use.

1 of the guys received theirs approx 9  months ago

the other 3 guys received theirs in the last 6 months each at separate times.

I have set up all 4 phones (and a few others outside of the office) so I know this phone PRETTY well to be honest.

On the phone #1 (that we got approx 9 months ago) the In Pocket Detection is not an option on Settings-Display as it is on EVERY other Droid 2 that I have touched.  Sadly this person really would benefit from that option as he has the most volume of calls and emails of all the phones.  I have even checked over and over for updates......

Why is this not an option on 1 of 4 phones.....and how do I get this option on his phone!!!!

Thanks to anyone that can help!

Hi Patl,

Since you posted that the store representative changed your settings on the screen so it will go blank immediately, are your issues resolved? This seems to be the best choice for you, since the phone cannot make a call when then screen is blank. If it goes blank immediately and you put it in your pocket, your issue should be resolved.

Please post back if you are still experiencing any concerns with this, as we would like to make sure everything is OK with your device.

Thank you!

Does the phone with no in pocket detection have the same software version as the others?

      System version:   Version.2.4.330.A956.Verizon.en.US

      Android version:   2.2

Are you saying that "Menu > Settings > Display > In-Pocket detection" does not exist or it exists, but does not work?

Does the phone use a large system font and the In-Pocket option is scrolled of the bottom.

You can try a battery pull and cache clear.  But if that does not work it may take a factory reset to get the In-Pocket detection option back. Note a factory reset wipes some data, settings, and downloaded applications from the phone.  If you use Verizon Backup or Google for you address book then those will be saved and the SD card will not be touched by a reset.

As always, a call to Verizon tech service is an option too.

I have the same problem where my phone dials contacts at all times of day or night, and it dials them repeatedly. I just got my phone 3 weeks ago and this also happened with my old LG phone.  It's terribly embarassing, especially when someone calls your house phone at 2 am to tell you to stop calling them.  I hit "end" at the end of every call and wait until it goes back to the home screen.  I also have that key lock when you turn it on and I've added a pin, which I have to enter before I do anything.  So how can this phone make calls when I have all these precautions.  I went to the verizon store yesterday for help and he just changed the amount of time that my screen will stay on when idle.  He changed that setting to immediately.

I hope someone can please help me.  I desperate.

My Droid 2 Global Pocket Detection setting is GONE.  I have Android version 2.3.4 with System version 4.5.629.A956 Verizon.en.US.

Since this feature has been deleted from the display setting my battery drains supper fast!  Does anyone know why this option was deleted? It worked fine for me beforehand.
