Droid 2 Keyboard (slider and touchscreen) malfunctioning

Mysteriously and startign just last night, my Droid 2 keyboard function has royally loused up.  Whether using the slider or touchscreen keyboard for texting, emailing, etc, the function completely freezes-up any inputs after typing a few characters, especially when using the space-bar and punctuation.  Surely this is a software problem!?!

I'm edging toward just replacing the unit, but would just assume get a new Droid 2 than an upgrade, so i can continue enjoying all the desk-top and auto accessories that are already bought and paid for.

Ah, fixed it!  I found a solution on a thread below.  Apparently, this is due to a gingerbread software update.  Anyway, to fix, you need to go in to manage all applications, find "Multi-touch keyboard" or whatever keyboard you are using (i.e. swype, etc.) and then clear all the cache & data.  That resets it and now it is working fine.

I am experiencing the exact same problem and it just started for me about an hour ago.  Was there a software update that is causing the problem??
