I have now had 3 droid 2's in less than a year and all of them experience the same problems and seem to get worse the longer I have the phone. It starts in the beginning with the screen freezing. Okay so that will happen I understand that. Then it will start acting possessed. It will go through different apps, contact list and even sometimes starts to dial or text contacts. Then it will start turning itself off. Lately it will turn itself off after I have sent an email or a text. It will even turn itself off when just using the music player. The battery is not low when all this happens either. I have been to Verizon several times, wasting my time and all they want to do is a reset which works for about 2 weeks then it will start happening again. Verizon will also tell me that it is an app that is causing the mishaps but this is all a bunch of **bleep**. This is by far the worst phone that I have ever owned and will never own another android phone. I have spoken with several people who have android phones and all of them experience issues similar to mine. Does anyone else experience these problems?

Ever since my Droid 2 was updated to Gingerbread I lose apps from the homescreen(s). Appears to happen at random times, but is always the same apps. Finally realized they're apps that have been saved to the SD card, No idea why, but very annoying.

It seems as though you have had quite a time with the three Droid 2's you have had in less than a year. I can understand why you would be frustrated. Prior to the phone shutting itself off, do you happen to get any error messages?
AIthough is very strange (but not improbable) that 3 phones would display the same type of behavior it does seem as though something else is going on.
I have to ask, once the master reset is done, are you installing the same applications on the Droid 2? Do you have either an Anti-Virus app or Advanced Task Killer app on the phone?
If so, please uninstall as the Droid developers say they do more harm than good.
Have you tried to place the phone in
Safe Mode
Safe mode will temporarily disable all applications that have been installed via the Android Market. Performing this troubleshooting step is necessary to determine whether a 3rd party application is the cause of an Operating System / Application issue.
If the phone is in safe mode and it exhibits the same erratic behavior then we know the phone is definitely doing it and not an app.
Please advise us of your results.
