Droid Battery not Charging when on charger

Within the past week, my droid incredible 2 has not been charging.  In weeks prior, both the phone and the charger would get extremely hot when charging.  I have tried both the usb charger and the wall charger that was given to me with the phone.  Now, if I am ever able to get it to charge a bit, it loses battery at a rapid rate.  Today it went from 50% to 20% in ten minutes.  Also, in weeks prior, the phone was no longer sleeping after the set amount of time.  Although set to sleep after thirty seconds of inactivity, the phone would go for hours in my pocket with the screen lit up until I realized and manually locked it.  Currently, my phone is dead, and I can not turn it on because I can not get it to charge.  I would call Verizon, however one usually needs a phone in order to do that, and mine is dead.

Why should I pay good money for something that should work for the durration of the contract?  You sound like you work for Verizion.

i had my Incredible droid 2 for just under a yr then the phone stopped chrging.  battery was swapped out but later discovered tht it was the phone.  the phone was then swapped out for a new phone...well, at least new to me...it was a refurbished or rather certified like new phone...yeah right.  less than 6mos later, the same exact issue.  so i decided to get a new phone. i paid for saturday delivery thru fedex...and still nothing...please dont tell me verizon is going down hill, been with them for it seems like forever. i am still currently without a phone   😞

I have a Desktop Phone Dock with a place for a second battery (which, is the greatest thing since Oxygen).  There have been probably a half dozen times over the past year when I have placed the second battery for my Samsung Charge in the dock to recharge and have come back several hours later and the light is still red and when the batteries were changed out the phone it showed the same discharged condition as when I put it in the dock.  Very Frustrating!  However, since this is an inconsistent event I am inclined to think it is either within the manufacturing of the dock of the contacts of either or both the dock or battery are getting dirty.  This would be the best scenario since the remedy would simply be to take a Q-Tip or cotton ball and clean them with alcohol (no, not like scotch), making sure no fibers from the cotton ball or Q-Tip were left on the contacts.  Unfortunately, I haven't done this as of yet but hope to get to it this weekend.  It would still take some time to know if it is the cure as at least in my situation it is an intermittent problem.

I am now experiencing the same issues with my HTC Droid Incredible 2. My phone will not charge while turned on and on the charger. So I had to basically get use to turning my phone off at night when I went to bed when I have been using my phone as an alarm clock. Then I took it to the verizon store and the guy there half listened to me and was more concerned about getting rid of my boy friends unlimited data plan then my phone and the other guy with him was joking around a lot. They didnt seem to much into there job they just seemed like they were kids seriously and then the guy told me that it was my charger so if it is my charger then wth does it charge when turned off please explain this to me. Also from reading all this stuff on how the phone is usually the problem makes me believe that it is my phone but he was like "I really dont think its your phone and also I wouldnt want you to have to put all the stuff back on the phone that is just a pain" Uhm I dont care if its a pain if I can actually leave my phone on when I go to bed. I am thinking about trying another verizon store tomorrow and seeing if they can tell me something different.

The same thing is currently happening to me.  The phone is however, 1.5 months past the warranty, and now I am stuck without a working phone, a manufacturer defect or software malfunction, and the option to upgrade for 349.00 or 210.00 to buy out of my contract.  I have another exact phone, and it charges my battery just fine.  I would have hoped the customer service from Verizon and HTC would have been at the least bit responsible for a product that is not intended to last with proper use for the entire term of the contract.

now after finding my own battery and external charger solution with NO help from Verizon my phone no longer accesses towers or mobile connections when using the SMALL battery... only the large battery allows the actual Phone or mobile services to work.  YOU CANT TELL ME THAT THIS IS NOT SOMETHING BEING DONE BY VERIZION or BY someone who wants me to give up my grandfathered unlimited DATA or BUY an IPHONE!!!  I'll find YET another way around the BS!

I too am having a problem with the charging port on my Incredible 2 phone  which just started. There is no guarantee that my phone will be charged in the morning and I can't be without a phone. I have no other phone to fall back on and I am moving in a couple of weeks so sending it out is out of the question. It seems that this is a known problem with this phone and Verizon should cover it warranty or not. I have an extended warranty but that leaves me without a phone for a couple of weeks. An exception should be made if people are having issues with their phone and allow us to upgrade. I can't wait 6 months for an upgrade.

I am having the same problem with my phone.  According to the representative at the local Verizon store , I am just out of warranty and cannot upgrade until April.  If the phone does actually charge it will not hold the charge for very long at all.  I took it off the charger this morning and it went yellow, before I got to work it was red (I live approximately 20 minutes away).  I currently have the phone plugged up and it shows it charging 49% (it has been plugged up since 7 AM).  My concern is when I do not have access to plug the phone in and need to be able to use it.  I feel that with the cost of cell phone service something should be done about this issue.  If nothing else a comparable loaner phone until you are eligible for an upgrade.

My girlfriend had this same exact problem so we went to Verizon to get the phone replaced. They said we had to call Asurion because they handle all of their replacement sort of things now. Well she received her replacement Droid Incredible 2 yesterday. Last night she went to charge it and nothing. The light was on showing it was charging, but the battery drained right in front of her. She has 3 batteries for this exact device and about 5 chargers. None are charging but the chargers work on other cell phones. I find it pretty pathetic I had to pay $99 to replace a device that would charge if you played with the cord to get another device that will not charge at all.

by a replacement extended battery and external charger on Amazon or ebay.. (about 10 bucks).. you'll have to charge with the battery outside the phone, but it works.. .beware of the possible next problem which will be no phone or Data service ( wifi will work fine)...

good luck, and dont thank Verizon, I just another mad customer!
