Following up on my previous "solution"... I ended up deleting the yahoo mail app as it was continuously synching and thus draining my battery quite quickly (charge had been lasting me a full day + depending on use but with the yahoo app it was barely lasting a day no matter how much I used it). Couldn't figure out how to change the synch interval so it would only check every specified period of time and didn't want to waste more time trying to figure out if it could be done or how to do it.
Today I tried adding my yahoo account again today using the bionic account set up and it worked!!. Only / main difference today from prior attempts is that I did it when away from home (and sitting in my parked car) so phone was using verizon services (data/phone) and no chance of using my home wifi... Don't know if that was what made it work or not but thought I'd pass on the info in case it helps someone!
Yahoo had recently changed their email setup.
