Droid Browser Issue

Anyone else running into this Browser issue? Although it worked correctly at one point, using the back key now positions the previous page to the top of the page rather than the position it was in prior to touching a link. For example, you are half way down a list of Google results. You touch a link and after viewing that page you touch the back key. When the previous page reloads, it's positioned at the top of the page rather than at the position where the link you touched is located - extremely annoying.

I cleared up this issue once by using Reset to default and then powering off and back on. However after about a week the top of the page behavior returned and can no longer be cleared up with that procedure. I installed Dolphin hoping it would not exhibit this behavior but it does the same thing. :smileymad:

I still have the original 2.0. I have on occasion noticed that problem. I have been browsing the Internet today and when I go back I am right where I was on the previous page. I even went down several pages and was able to go back to each page where I left off.  I did clear all browsing history and cache yesterday. Not sure if that is why the browser is working today. I will keep browsing today to see if the issue surfaces of not returning to the last position on the previous page.

I just installed the 2.0.1 update and it's working correctly again. Not sure if 2.0.1 or the reboot fixed the issue, though.

Worked correctly a couple of times but now it's broken again. Oh well.

Not a "fix" but a workaround.  Just long press the link and select "open in a new window".  Since the link will be the  first page in that new window, when you press the back button, it will close the new window and return you to where you were in the original window.

Thanks. I was hoping Dolphin had a "Opens links in new tab" option but your suggestion would work.

I just started using Dolphin and it does have an "Open in new tab" option. If you long click on a link it brings up a fan with a link option. If you click "Link" the it gives you the option to open in a new tab. I am posting this from a tab in Dolphin created as such. This phone rocks!

I meant to say I was hoping there was a way to set a default so links would always open in a new window.

Ahh, yeah that would be nice.  Like I said, I just started using it and really haven't looked into the settings much.  It seems like a really good browser.
