The only way my Droid's calendar sync's with Google Calendar is to remove the battery, then unsync and resync the Calendar in the Droid's settings menu.
As a starter, verify your sync settings: Menu->Settings->Accounts & sync. Auto-sync should be checked. Then touch your Gmail account and verify that all Sync options are checked there as well.
