Went to XDA website - nothing on this. Obviously you're more experienced at this. If I found it, how do I install, and does it negate my phone warrenty?

Dear sweak,

I think what trparky is talking about requires you to take steps to modify or replace part or all of the OS in ways that would void your warranty. I have not done this, for that reason, although those who advocate this and even offer techniques to do it say that you can reverse the process and go back to a "stock" OS if you need warranty service. I personally am not ready to trust that statement, although it may be true. I don't know of anyone who has done this and then received warranty service, although I don't know of anyone who has been refused, either.

Thank you, WCMack. That's what I figured. In Safe Mode, I do have a better signal - goes out sometimes, but seems to be there most of the time. I'm planning to delete apps to see if one of them is the problem. From now on, I'll only update 1 at a time...couldn't keep track of updates before when I just updated all when I received notifications. Other than this inconsistant network connection, I really like the phone.

The EP1Q modem firmwares that I'm talking about doesn't replace the OS, only the baseband software which is what drives the 3g and 4g modem radios.  It's separate from the Android OS.

Yes, there is a chance to void your warranty by loading it because if you brick it and can't fix it, then there is a possibility that your warranty could be null and void.  Thankfully most of the people over on XDA-Developers will help you if you manage to brick your phone.

In the case of the EP1Q modem firmwares, it's just a process of putting your phone into Download Mode and using a tool called ODIN to load the EP1Q firmware onto your phone.  It's rather easy to do so and even being the complete n00b that I am to the Android world I was able to figure it out with some help from some of the guys over on XDA-Developers.

Just got a “charge” it has 3 bars signal strength but it’s network connection is sporadic at best.
My Fascinate (sitting right next to it) connects to internet, downloads and searches instantly wile the charge stalls and then says “network problem” Do I have a LEMON? Will their be a fix? In the Verizon store as soon as it was powered up it down loaded an update but I have this problem?

I just purchased a Droid Charge at Costco for $129 last weekend. Sitting next to a Droid X, the Charge has data connectivity problems when the Droid X is solid. In my office, I connect to WiFi. When the WiFi signal drops to 0, the unit does not switch to 3G or 4G (available at my office location). I get a popup saying there is no network connection.

I see someone here said to reboot the unit. I guess I'll try that.

This is a disappointment.  I just disconnected my 3 year old Blackberry to purchase this device.

I can  return it, but very reluctant to do so.

Verizon: are you listening?

Well if you are using it in 3g mode that's why your not having the same issues as us.

Either Verizon's network goes compeltely down weekly for over an hour at a time in the middle of town, or my phone simply won't connect.  Have never had a verizon friend nearby to ask.  Frequently, though, no matter whether I'm in a 4G coverage area or 3G coverage area, I drop down to 1x, and then to no data at all.

Either Verizon's network is worse than AT&T's here, or the charge has the same network issues that have plagued Samsung phones since they began making Android phones.  I'm very disappointed in the reliability of this phone.

When the network data drops, putting it in and out of airplane mode doesn't  resolve the problem.  Turning on and off data individually doesn't help, and powercycling doesn't help.  You just have to sit and wait about an hour for the issue to sort itself out.
