I have had my Charge about a year now, and I have just recently begun to have problems with it. Pretty convenient to have these start after warranty expires. So, I can be doing anything (texting, web, app usage), and the phone will turn off. When I power it back on, the battery is red. But, if I pull the battery, it usually goes back in the blue, but not anywhere near where the charge point was before. I suspect I have a worn out battery, but am not sure. The battery is slightly swollen (indicating usage), but this does not explain how I can to from a full battery to critically low in an instant. Any thoughts?
Thanks!!!

I am having this exact same problem. It started happening after I installed the new firmware update a few weeks ago. To say the least it SUCKS. My battery only lasts four hours now. I am really regretting this purchase, and after the new forced plan changes I am really rethinking my relationship with verizon.

If the battery is swollen, it's either too old or has gotten wet. I don't mean it was dropped in water, it could have been around steam in the bathroom or heavy fog.
Take it to the store and have them take a battery out of a display and put in yours. If it looks like it should then just buy a new battery. But you need to get that battery out of that phone before it starts to leak and do damage to in the inside of the phone.

I've been having the same problem with my device over the last couple of weeks. Has happened about 6 times already. My device is a recent insurance replacement. I'm feeling a lot like pudders. Got this phone, its crappy and i'm stuck with it until I pinch enough pennies since I can't upgrade without losing my data plan.

My wife and I both have charger and this started to happen exact same time about 2 weeks ago. I've always had an issue with the battery, only lasting about 4 hours with 4G on. Now, the phone shuts off in between 50~75%, and when restarted it shows 1% left. This morning, I've used it for about 10 mins first thing, and it shut itself down. It has been 11months since the purchase, I am going to claim warranty today.

Did you ever find out what was wrong with it? I'm having the exact same problem starting this week. Battery indicator shows plenty of life, but it will shut off, then when I turn it back on it shows under 5% remaining. I've counting the days til my contract is up so I can leave verizon.

When your battery is fully charged it is at 3.7 Volts and your phone says that it's fully charged. But if when you turn it on and use your phone the battery almost immediately it shuts off your phone then your battery has failed. What happened is that it has virtually no AMPS (power) even though it is at 3.7 volts.
Your best recourse is to buy a new battery.
Don't beat yourself up complaining or blaming the phone, just get a new battery. Remember, life is short, consider eating desert first!

I have the same problem. TO THOSE WHO SAY IT'S THE BATTERY'S FAULT, IT ISN'T. I bought a new battery and am still having the same issue. The phone is garbage...Samsung did poorly on this phone. I have the S3 now, and love it, but I had to pay over $600 for it because my "new every two" won't happen til this summer.

I have been having the same issue for close to a month and it is getting worse. I could upgrade in 5 months but have 9 months to go on my contract. If I have to, I will look for a used phone to get me through till I can dump Verizon. After more than 17 years I am leaving them,I refuse to pay their exorbitant renewal fees!

We would hate to lose you cheapskate63! I want to make sure that you have a reliable device at all times. Have you ever replaced the battery? That may correct the issue with your device powering off. Please advise.
Thank you,

Sadly I have tried everything but nothing has helped. I never know how this crazy thing is going to work (or not work!). Many times when the phone turns off the battery meter is showing half full and I have to pull the battery out before I can get it to turn back on. When it comes back on it immediately says the battery needs charged and instantly turns off so I plug the phone in but when the screen lights up it tells me the battery is at half charge just as it said it was when the phone turned itself off, other times when I plug it in the battery will be completely drained. I can not depend on this phone at all.

Same problem. Verizon sent me a new battery, no improvement. Then they sent another (probably refurbished) phone, worked for a few weeks, now same thing again!

Hi powerplay. I'm glad the replacement phone showed signs of hope for a few weeks. I want to get you back into a great device though. During those few weeks the phone was working, did you redownload all the old applications to the phone? Or maybe download any new applications? Do you possibly have any battery saver, task killer, or antivirus applications on your phone? Uninstalling applications http://vz.to/UvhoYj like that, or applications downloaded shortly before the issue occured, can help to resolve difficulties with the phone and make sure you enjoy your amazing device.
Thank you

I did not install any battery saver, task killer, or antivirus applications on my phone. I called and worked s/t out with the rep. This happened to me twice with this phone and many others here report the same. That it worked for some time is similar to the first phone. That's not good enough. And BTW it never really held a charge for like an entire day even with minimal use.
