OK, good.  How can we help?

If you review the most active threads in this forum, you will get a quick idea of what problems/issues are bothering Charge owners the most.  Keep in mind that almost 100% of the threads relate to negative things.  People rarely join a forum like this to say positive things about a product; they are looking for help or looking for kindred spirits or just looking to vent/complain.

For me, there are a lot of positive things about the Charge: great screen, relatively light, good with music (my last phone, a Droid X2, was fatally flawed in this area), pretty fast processor, and excellent integration with Google stuff (I use Google apps for my law practice).

But it's not perfect, as you will see if you review the forum.

I am not bothered by the 4G/3G issue, because I live in an area that is solidly 3G and likely to stay that way for a while - I bought the phone for other reasons.  Also, my music plays very well (as mentioned) so the "file not recognized" issue is not germane.  I have no problems pairing or using my Bluetooth headset, so no issue there either.

I guess my biggest complaint thus far is the Samsung overlay interface in desk dock mode and car dock mode.  I don't make a big deal about that because it is certainly not a universal issue (you have to have a desk dock or car dock to have the issue), so why waste a lot of people's time?

I suggest you read the forum, but also join or guest in on similar forums for other phones you are considering.  They will all be negative, but at least you will get the feeling for which problems are most pressing for which phones, and can then decide which phone might be the most right for you.

Good luck!

Samsung creates its own interface to work with the standard interface provided by the Android OS. One of the special areas of the interface relates to using the desk dock (a Samsung accessory that I bough with the phone) and the car dock (ditto). I don't like the way this interface works. When you put the phone in either dock, it automatically switches to the Samsung-designed screen that offers you only five or so icons. You have to switch out of this screen to work with the "normal" interface from Android.

You won't see the home screen in dock mode because, if you don't use or have any docks (on your deck or in your car) you will never put the phone in dock mode. To do that requires that you physically put the phone in the dock; there is a magnetic switch in the phone and dock(s) that signals that the phone is docked, and the dock home screen automatically replaces the normal home screen.

This will never happne unless you physically dock the phone.

Right. We are kind of going round in a circle now. Time to stop.

Good luck with you new phone, whether Droid Charge or not.
