Its doesnt work, it all depends on what you want to sync.

here is a websire that has a pretty good look at all the different software, some paid, some free, and what each one will sync with the different parts of outlook (calendar, contacts, tasks etc)

Hopefully you can find a product to meet your needs

If all you wish to do is SYNC the Calendar,  http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=89955  This works very very well.

Otherwise, as Cutterp pointed out, you'll need a 3rd party APP.

This is my method of syncing my calendar to my personal outlook at home. It is one of the ways to sync listed in the link. It works pretty well with Outlook 2010, but once in a while I have an error with Outlook saying that it quit. Not sure why it happens, but it has no impact on the sync that I can see.

Thanks for the information everyone. I also wanted to add a link to a Verizon wireless community forum that provides some excellent information and steps to sync your phone to outlook. I listed the general steps below for your convenience.

http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-X-by-Motorola/How-to-sync-Droid-X-with-Outlook-2010/td-p/366390

Note: to force the sync, simply “Right-Click” the Google Sync icon in your task tray (bottom right), click “Sync”.

How to do it:

  1. Download the Google Calendar Sync software
  2. Enter your Gmail account information
  3. Select 2-Way sync as this will sync your Outlook with Gmail
  4. Set sync interval in minutes
  5. That’s it!

Here is another link to a Google page that provides some steps to syncing your phone with outlook:

I use Touchdown and am veryy happy with it. It does more than just sync the calendar.
