My plan for my current phone is expiring in about one month and i am interested in purchasing the droid. I know that i have to get a data which is about $30 a month, but does this include texting as well or do i need to purchase a separate texting plan. If so how much is a unlimited texting plan on verizon, would this amount be added on top the $30 a month. Thank You.

Texting is not included in the data plan. Previously, you added texting to whatever voice plan you get, but VZW now has specific Talk & Text plans for 450, 900 & unlimited minutes of usage. The data plan is added on top of that.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is right.
For individual plans, I believe unlimited texting is $20 on top of your voice plan. Unlimited data is $30 on top of that.

This is correct. The way it works:
You pay separately for minutes.
You pay separately for data.
You pay separately for text.
...and I think you can still get 250 texts for $5.00 per month. That's the text plan I will sign up for.
